#2 Higher U.S. Incomes only effect people who actually work for a living. The layabouts and politicians (who get automatic increases) are generally oblivious.

#5 ...I don't know Skid. Going from 54K a year in various government subsidies to 28k a year in direct income may not appeal to a good sector of the electorate, particularly those on the vote farms.

#6 The biggest "pay raise" I've gotten in the last five years was $30+ a month from the tax reform. For three years under Obama, the "cost of living" raises I received on my FIXED INCOME from the federal government usually disappeared in higher taxes, mostly for mediscare.
