#1 That makes sense. I always found it hard to believe the US would risk an SSBN in the shallow, narrow waters of the Gulf.

What would such a test-launch prove? It just doesn't pass the smell-test.

#2 The thing's got a range of like 7000 miles. I don't think you'd have to get that close to fire one at a certain unnamed Middle East country that's almost spelled like Iraq.
