#1 It is a virtual certainty that if MLB had not caved in to the pressure at the league level, the left-wing interest groups agitated over the issue would have shifted their efforts towards pressuring individual players who were likely to be voted by fans to play in the game.

...FWIW, I think he's right - seeing as how these overpaid twinkies are already kneeling for the National Anthem, it wouldn't have taken much to get them to boycott the game. Probably just saying 'Boo!' would have done it; and there would have been zero repercussions on the players.
