#3 badanov is correct. The organized troops held out for a week, but resistance went on for much longer.

"The Russians at Brest-Litovsk fought extremely steadfastly and tenaciously. They showed excellent infantry training and demonstrated a remarkable will to fight," wrote Lieutenant General Fritz Schlieper, commander of the 45th Infantry Division.
