#1 Quite a stretch to call her a "Clinton Official". By that measure, every cleared American serving under any SecState is an "Official". She was a low level secretary.

With that - she is a scumbag and should be dismembered with a high lift jack and some tow straps. ChiComs would have capped her long time ago.

#3 She was an office manager. In that capacity she worked at a variety of interesting embassies over the years, organizing everyone and knowing everything. Really, much cleverer to suborn her than any number of ambassadors.

In this case, she worked as the office manager in the Public Affairs Section - not a hotbed of intrigue to say the least. She would NOT routinely have access to the specific info the ChiComs tasked her with. She could get some info passively but she would not have been in the "room" during sensitive trade talks. Handlers could have been hoping she moved to a position of better access in the future though she faced retirement at 65.
