#10 I read Keeping Faith when it came out and was mostly impressed, but I hadn't kept up with him since. While reading it I got a sense that his conservative convictions weren't very deep and were mostly an emotional reaction to his son's deployment.

Having undergone a major worldview realignment myself, culminating after 9/11, I can empathize with such changes, but he seems to be something of a weather vane. Myself, I can't envision ever going back to my old worldview.
