#1 JAG-offs who brought these cases on the word od a habitually lying PO3 and a terrorist whose complaints are straight from the AlQaeda handbook (claim abuse) should be relieved of duty. The fact that it only took an hour and 40minutes to return a verdict after only 1-2 hours of defense (and 4 days of prosecution!) tells the tale.

These politically driven asshole Flag officer and JAG REMFs were betting that the SEALs would cave like a liberal on a matter of honor when they brought these charges and then offered a "plea bargain" (non-judicial punishment).

I hope the main prosecution JAG who decided to go forward with this flimsy crap has his career ended. Same goes for the nutless flag officer that pushed this whole mess.

Dont ever bet against a SEAL on matters of personal honor.

Also the jerk prisoner deserves execution. In the same manner he chose for those guys on the bridge: Burned until charred, then dragged, then hung from a beam and dismembered.

#2 Hopefully, these sailors will be returned to duty and apologized to. Although I doubt any apology will be forthcoming. Posted by Beavis

All three found not guilty. How about we take a look at the commanding officer who recommended charges and non-judicial punishment under the UCMJ? Had these sailors accepted the Article-15's, their career would have been over. I'm not certain what will happen with regard to their careers even now. We simply cannot afford to lose men like these. Three very speedy findings of "not guilty" warrants a look into the original charges. Let's DO IT!

#3 You are such optimists, OldSpook & Besoeker.

#4 Old age and cunning will generally triumph over BS g(r)om.

Three individual cases of very quickly dropped charges brings into question the validity of the initial accusations and of the professionalism of the officer(s) who reviewed the accusations and preferred the non-judicial charges.

#5 Burned until charred, then dragged, then hung from a beam and dismembered.

OS, while I appreciate the symmetry of your preferred sentence, I think I would rearrange the order: drag, hang, dismember, burn.

#6 The Islamists are just practicing the Rope a Dope routine on the USA and if the US Military can't figure that out, then my optimism is severly shaken.

#7 How about we take a look at the commanding officer who recommended charges and non-judicial punishment under the UCMJ?

At this point the career of the SEALs is about over. Even though they're cleared, the system will not/can not be fair concerning their career path and selections. Either they'll suffer the cut of a thousand papers or become a 'protected' group which, unfortunately, will get them into a position they should never had been selected for otherwise. However, as a consequence they are now proud owners of the services' very own personnel 'nuclear handgrenade', Art. 138 of the UCMJ.

Art. 138. Complaints of wrongs

Any member of the armed forces who believes himself wronged by his commanding officer, and who, upon due application to that commanding officer, is refused redress, may complain to any superior commissioned officer, who shall forward the complaint to the officer exercising general court-martial jurisdiction over the officer against whom it is made. The officer exercising general court-martial jurisdiction shall examine into the complaint and take proper measures for redressing the wrong complained of; and he shall, as soon as possible, send to the Secretary concerned a true statement of that complaint, with the proceedings had thereon.

It's a nuke, because the proceedings go into everyone's files who's involved. A copy of the complaint must go to the service's senior IG who must monitor it and insure the investigation complies with the intent that Congress specifically set for it to protect the American citizen in the ranks. It's a career killer, guilty or innocent.

#9 The commanding officer will be promoted, Besoeker---he's exactly the kind Obama & Co are looking for.

So what is to prevent them from pulling the pin on this and counterfiling; I'd say the short jury deliberation time would be a validator of sorts to preclude any claim of 'frivolous.'
Maybe it could be played to a cleansing of the records.

#11 These three were from a very elite seal team. I understand it was not the SEAL commander that pressed them but the big it was the Navy. I could be wrong on this point and if I am someone speak up. But when it comes to the team these three came from, they may all belong to the Navy but SOCOM controls them. The SOCOM commander is a Navy SEAL and commander their unit during Somalia. They are not from the conventional Navy and I would bet my last beer they go back to their team and get back to work. I would also not look to see them push an Art 138. They will just go back to work, get promoted and write a book about it.

#12 Hallelujah 1, 2, and 3! Should never have been brought up on charges in the first place.
