#5 I remember when the Oakland Raiders held summer training at the old El Rancho Tropicana in Santa Rosa CA. I also remember the As of the 70s. Why the As are still in Oakland I don't know. There's nothing left there for them. No one there remembers.

Meanwhile, Charlie Finley is rolling in his grave.

#7 Baseball may not be dying, but it is not the sport it once was, and it does not have the fan base it once had.

#9 Grew up bleeding Royals and Chiefs.

I don't even know what kind of start Royals are off to.

That's your trendline.

#10 I grew up a Redskins fan for life, but that didn't survive the woke nonsense. Last baseball game I went to was Griffith Stadium to see the Senators play...

#11 The purpose of 'entertainment' is to attract an audience. To entertain in order to forget the insanity of the world for but a brief period of time. Someone has forgotten the basics.

#12 Cowboys fan here in town, and I think we can agree there is no such thing as a sort of Cowboys fan, pulled all his yard decor to his Christmas Tree lights.

#13 Just throwing it out here - why don't the A's share Oracle Park with the San Francisco Giants? I'd think the first serious barrier is working out the logistics of sharing a stadium that would be in full operation just about every day for at least six months. Other than that, I don't see a downside, and the A's won't have to try and con some other place to build them a stadium on the local taxpayer's dime.

#15 Oh, and something swksvolFF said brings up another point. The Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots both paid for their respective stadiums and own the land they're on themselves. This is the primary reason they're among the top pro sports franchises in terms of high market value.

I don't know about the other teams but it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case with most of the other teams. If that holds, there's your best argument for making the owners pay for this shit themselves or share the costs with another franchise.
