#1 I wonder what it's like to have so many people wanting you dead? No, maybe I don't. One possibility I didn't see mentioned is that he may have come under suspicion as the Israeli insider. Doesn't have to be true to get yourself dead.

#3 If the hit was from Hizbullah one would presume it came on orders (and probably training) from Iran. Message to Assad? Will it cause fear among the Syrian heirarchy and strengthen the wall between Damascus and the West, or will it cause resentment, and a weakening of that wall? Probably depends on who is perceived as the strong horse.
