#2 This is a mish-mosh of reasons why it might not work. What is not seen is the amazing invisible economic engine starting up. For example, Iraq's *second* most profitable business is rarely mentioned: agribusiness.

Right now, it is getting the show on the road and with the next harvest season, either this fall or possibly the spring, Iraq is going to be up to its eyebrows in extra produce and grain. This will be an injection of many billions of dollars into their economy overnight, and for each year thereafter.

Don't underestimate its value, up until the high tech boom of the 90s, agribusiness ranked up there with oil, automobiles, and banks in the Fortune 50.

J. Paul Bremer also set Iraq up to be an amazing economy, financially. Currency, markets, insurance, banking, and taxes, all are optimized for success and ultimately conform to all international standards, making their credit A-1. Much of their terrible debt has also been resolved. In many ways, it has a pristine business environment, and many international corporations are itching to do business in there.

It's awful hard to get into a major brawl when you are so financially successful--success that is coming to Iraq at breakneck speed.
