#1 If I were Governor (Zoolander) Rick Perry ....... I would shut down the border crossings into Texas till either .......... Mexico returned the corpse of David Hartley or Mexico paid tribute to his family.

Isn't this about one of the three legitimate jobs of the federal government ....??? I guess this is just another example where the people will have to do the job of the federal governemnt ......... much like the folks in the State of Arizona are doing.

Am I wrong .........???

#2 Isn't this about one of the three legitimate jobs of the federal government

I think so. But we can save that debate for when the federal government actually does its own job instead of the states' jobs.

#3 I've had doubts about the story since it came out as well. Some neighborhoods in my little burg are not safe as others, even though that is where the police spend most of their time. I avoid those neighborhoods. Especially at night. What were they thinking?

#4 A body of water on a US international border. Appears to be a Federal Coast Guard issue. Where are they?

#5 This is absolutely a Coast Guard issue. DOT needs to get off their asses and get involved.

#6 There are a great many oblivious people in the world. And even more who assume that being American protects them from their own stupidity.

I'm one of the oblivious ones. I would tell illustrative stories, but I have no idea what I missed except, once, a drug deal across the street as we were wandering through downtown Cincinnati. My brother mentioned that one, after we'd gotten out of earshot.

#7 "What were they thinking?"

NS, unless there's something out on the lake that denotes the international border, they were probably thinking what fun jet skis were.

#10 Polygraph, tomorrow morning if that is alright. Just a precaution. Don't be late. Thank you mam.

#11 Barbara, The "lake" is the Rio Grande.

#12 TW, was that in this part of Cincinnati?

Go Redlegs.

#13 Liberty and Vine, tasty pick.
Be sure to try the "hookers and crack" if you are in this very eclectic neighborhood.

Oh, and don't forget to lock your trunk.

#14 TW, was that in this part of Cincinnati?

Good lord, no, Nimble Spemble. People don't seem to take me to the more adventurous neighborhoods for some reason. It was a block over from Fountain Square (5th & Vine), as I recall, in the nice part of downtown. We were walking back to the car after a very satisfying dinner.

#15 Exactly my point. These folks weren't being oblivious, they were in the wrong neighborhood. Why?

#16 OK, NS. Same question - is there something there that tells people on the water that they've crossed into Mexico?

Or have people been boating and skiing around on the Mexican side of the lake for years with no complaints from Mexico as long as they stay in the water?

And what's the Mexican gummint doing about this? Or is it OK if Mexicans kill Americans who temporarily stray over the border on a lake, but not equally OK for Americans to kill Mexicans who actually sneak across the border to permanently steal the benefits of our citizenship?

Never mind, I know the answer to that last one. :-(

#17 Falcon Lake is indeed the Rio Grande -- dammed up. Some parts of the lake is from 3-5 miles wide -- last time I was on it -- there were no markers, we weren't warned not to stray -- as is the warnings now since April. Campers and fishermen are coming armed.

Yes -- call for a poly --- but, if I were a wife who had some nefarious doings with my husband's death, I would want that body permanently disappeared.

Instead -- here is a wife, on Fox -- pleading for the Gov and the Pres to get involved.

Been lots of communications today -- both way -- Perry is wanting to speak with the Pres of Mexico.

Again -- yea -- lots of questions --- but I wouldn't want my 15 minutes of fame to be going on national TV pleading for the body of my husband -- if, I had something to cover-up.

'Course -- there are some crazies in this world

#18 Sherry, see the story of Susan Smith, who murdered her two young sons and then went on national TV to appeal to the black man who she claimed had carjacked her car.
It turned out that she had run the car into a lake with the two boys inside, because she wanted to hook up with a guy who didn't want a ready made family.

#19 The couple involved has lived in Mexico before for quite some time. I would not be at all surprised to learn years from now hubby is waiting in a Mexican bar somewhere for the life insurance and lawsuit checks to start coming in. He can go by the name "Rico".
Or perhaps SHE shot him in the head. No witnesses to anything, apparently.

#20 Rambler -- I know of the story of Susan Smith.

I'm just curious as to why she is making such a case to find her husband's body -- unless, she does know, there isn't one to be found.

She has offered an "invitation" to the Texas Rangers to get involved -- and, well, not a smart move -- Just ask Chuck Norris!

A tale to be told.
