I suggest any muzzies flicking through this site take a look at this incident where someone sawed off 3 schoolgirls heads, I guess the perpetrators thought they were doing gods work here, and Im sure if you dug deep enough you could find a line from the koran to justify it. Take a minute to look at the racist genocide, caused in the name of your religion and just consider was mohammed really telling the truth? These acts are designed to destabilize the pro-Western government under Yudhoyono. By attacking innocents (like in London, like in Jordan, like in the US) the terrorists' goal is to turn the average citizens against their governments.

Indonesia is a fledgling democracy (democracy--that's a good thing), and while everyone's sentiments about executing these idiot terrorists are shared by me, to do so without trial plays into their hands. The Indonesians are attempting to follows the rule of law. They have arrested and convicted more terrorists than we have. We should be building economic/political bridges with any country's government that is fighting the "islamic" terrorists.

4 : 0 It is 4:0, isn't it? Add to that the @ssh@ts they closed in on who "went out fighting," and it's, what, 7:0 (as far as police/prosecutorial type action)?

My point? Stop fixating on Bashir. By the way, since they re-arrested him (at the point of release) the last time he was released (after serving a prior sentence), what makes you think they won't do that again? Or find some other way of "handling" him?

#11 No, "al'Qaeda casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq" are not "police/prosecutorial type action". My point is not that Indonesia's military is fighting side by side with us, although they are a lot more sympathetic to us than a lot of other countries (France, Russia, etc., for example). My point is simply that in terms of tracking down suspects, arresting them, convicting them, and imposing some serious sentences (including DEATH), Indonesia can hardly be called lax. Bashir is an anomaly for a bunch of reasons, but none of those reasons will prevent Indonesia from reducing and eliminating him in the long run, IMO.

#13 Bashir is an anomaly for a bunch of reasons ...

I'll stop "fixating" on Bashir when Indonesia finds a way to make sure that millions of other Muslims no longer have the chance to fixate upon him as well. Bashir's anomalistic status makes it essential that he is neutralized, post haste.

Somehow, Bashir was allowed to release a statement justifying the use of nuclear weapons against the West. How many millions of Muslim minds were infected with this mass-murdering bile? I remain concerned about Bashir because he is both a pivot point and prime mover for JI and Southeast Asian terrorism in general.

When Indonesia either executes him or, at least, places this maggot in solitary confinement, I'll begin to soften my stance about just how dedicated they are with respect to fighting terrorism. Until then, the constant reports of near misses, corruption and lackadasical enforcement just don't cut any ice with me.

If Indonesia out and out waxes Bashir, they will have too much to deal with in terms of reactions. Ache has just settled down and has gained a lot of respect for the US because of the tidal wave aftermath help. And they were radical. Besides, Bashir's not the only one blabbing that the US should be destroyed by any means possible. Shutting him down completely can have the opposite effect of strengthening his voice. Solitary confinement doesn't sound too bad, but they couldn't do it forever without legal justification.
