#2 Encouraging protest save for a number of disturbing factoids:

1. Almost all the demonstrators appeared to be men over the age of 30 - where were the youths?

2. Near total absence of females.

3. Where were the immams?

4. Hundreds of protesters as opposed to say the thousands that poured into the fabled "Arab street" after NEWSWEEK's "Fake But True Qu'ran in the Gitmo Toilet" story.

5. Were most of these male protesters actually hotel employees outraged at the future loss of jobs? Similiar fact was noted in the so-called anti-Al-Qaeda protests that occurred in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt after their hotels were subjected to Jihadi boomers.

#4 Good points,Happy.
If they really mean what they say, they need to send in some operatives, get the U.S. info. Or send in a few thousand soldiers to watch the backs of the coalition,or Syria border patrol. Then I will believe them.

#5 Seems like most of the arab world was sickened by this event. Someone should point out to them that somewhere, near them, there are many muslims who are celebrating this as a glorious victory.

#6 Just FYI. Watching Fox a few minutes ago they were showing Jordanians protesting and holding candlelight whatevers - many young men and even including some children, some females. This sort of idiocy really seems to have (finally) backfired on the alQ / Zarqi asshats. Long overdue. Years overdue. Perhaps we'll even see some Moderate Muzlims "created", though I believe they'll flip right back into the other category on the next NewsWeak rumor story about flushed Korans.

#7 OK, we have Jordanians protesting when Jordanians are killed and Moroccans protesting when Moroccans are kidnapped. I'm not overly impressed, and don't think this will mark a sea-change in Arab opinions about alQ - they'll still hate US in the morning.

Where were they when innocent Iraqis were being blown up by the scores and hundreds over the past three years? I guess the Ummah doesn't extend beyond one's own borders.

#8 Jordanian citizens are some of the most supportive of suicide attacks in Iraq. How extremely hypocritical of them of to cheer homeboy Zarqawi during away games, then whine when the local hero returns for a home game.

#9 I'm with Happy. Color me unimpressed that they could only get some hundreds of people out on the street. No spittle, no seething, no "DIRE REVENGE" TM...nope it just lacked the critical Arab protest elements needed to consider it seriously.

#10 I don't see this as a "Go to hell, Zarqawi". More like a "Hey, dumbass, watch where you're shooting." Soon as he goes back to killing non-muslims, the Jordanians will love him again.

#11 Happy, two things:

#1: VISIBLE military operations? StrategyPage has talked about Gulf State commandos operating covertly alongside the U.S. so as not to give Islamists something big. Are you talking about upping these covert forces, or finally coming out into the open re: the subject?
#2: Regnad Kcin is right. Here's more photos from Jordanian marches.
