#1 Hey, didn't they leave out "running-dogs"?

Or was that just the Chinese?

#2 "...as a target of its preemptive nuclear attack."??? Damn that Jimmy Carter and his adulturous thoughts. GW better not have any more nuclear thoughts.

#3 The NKs are the number one importers of French cognac in the world. A bottle of Remi helps an elitist forget about his starving countrymen who have been reduced to eating boiled tree-bark.

#5 "I suspect they're not..."

But do they know whose really in charge? That is the question.

#6 Fred, the problem is that the Bush team thinks it has a problem with N Korea. It doesn't. N Korea has a problem with itself. The polituro wants, above all else, to remain in charge. They got bupkus with work with -- no food, no economy, no love of the people, an army that would work great for about 10 days before falling apart, and precious little good will in the world. So they're playing one of the only two cards they have -- go nuclear and act paranoid-nasty. We should recognize this for what it is. I thought the Bush team had when they were simply refusing to talk with the NKors. That had to drive them nuts, and it left them to figure out how to get enough food and fuel for the winter. Now it looks like Bush is going to talk with them, no doubt under pressure from SK and Japan, and no doubt with China standing firm saying, "we're not helping you."

That other card, by the way, is the recognition that China will never -- never -- allow SK/US to roll towards the Yalu. They demonstrated that 50 years ago and they won't hesitate to show us again, if ever put in that situation.

What we ought to do is 1) politely nod to the NKors and refuse to engage them and 2) politely tell the Chinese that if they can't leash their rabid dog, we just might have vaccinate the south -- as in, station nukes in SK and (under the right circumstances) give the SKors access to them. The Chinese see the 21st Century as their turn in the sun. They aren't going to let the NKors screw it up.

#7 You got it Steve. I heard a pundit on Tv once say that China isn't going to let NKor lob nuclear weapons all over the place, too much to lose.
