I've heard rumors that a Sunni mother asked the US forces for help with her 15 yr old son who was illegally being held. An American General who went to inspect, was denied access, then said "the HELL I AM" and barged in finding the prisoners in bad shape. There is speculation that this was the responsibility of Badr Brigade elements.

We know the Badr brigades and Peshmerga have secret prisons and that they regularly engage in torture, or at least we suspect it and don't bother to confirm it. Turning a blind eye as it were, but payback's a bitch, and I can't say that I'd do much of shit to stop the Kurds and Shiia after some of the heinous shit I've seen that Saddam's secret police did to them.

But this looked like an agregious and very public situation, and examples have to be made for peace's sake.

That doesn't make any sense. While it may foster goodwill towards the US, it doesn't logically follow that it would impact participation among Sunni Arabs in the next election. Maybe I'm wrong - but I don't think the Americans will be voting in that election.

It's total nonsesne. kinda like:

A policeman released a man who was being held and tortured by his brother. The action appears to be aimed in part at scoring points among the victims family, whose participation in next month's Thanksgiving dinner is key to disbanding the police department.

Actually, the raid was intended to apprehend more suspected terrorists.
