#1 The terrorist Shi'ite dictatorship of Iran, fueled by it's billions in Opec oil sales, is finding out what's it's like to have their own domestic oil pipelines blowup, in relation to ordering Iraq's oil pipelines destroyed by Iranian terrorist agents.

Payback is just getting started for the Tyrants of Tehran.

#4 Prophylatic bombing to their nuclear capability ios called for.

#5 Nope, nope, no bombing.

I'm beginning to discern what GWB has in mind for Iran -- and if I can see it, the rest of you will have seen it months ago.

Invading Iran isn't possible given the political circumstances right now. Bombing Iran, absent a clear causus belli, will lead to an impeachment. Won't matter if a fair number of Dems agree with removing Iran's nuclear capability, they'll still vote to impeach and remove.

But that doesn't mean we can't bring the Mad Mullahs™ down, and the strategy is developing. Make their finances more difficult. Tighten the diplomatic noose. Parade military power in front of them and make the Mullahs look impotent. Find ways and people to agitate around the country. Get the Kurds upset. Get the Balochis upset.

Two pieces are missing so far, at least in public documents: the first is wet work (e.g., killin') against key Mullahs, nuclear scientists, IRG commanders, etc. There are a number of folks who should be having heart attacks, drives in the desert, and head trauma after slipping on banana peels. Yes, the Israelis may have done this once. We should be doing it, and we should deny, deny, deny we are doing it. And any DoJ or White House lawyer who says that this sort of thing is 'illegal' under international law should be kept away from this completely.

The second missing piece is targeted destruction, very quietly, of key Iranian assets. That domestic gasoline refinery? Ka-boom, and gosh, gee, golly, you guys really should be more careful, y'know? The electrical grid. The refineries. The oil spigot at Karg Island. Careful, quiet, no-see-um incidents that leave the Mullahs wondering just what in the hell is going on.

Do all that and the Iranian people will take care of our problem for us.

#7 "Pipeline blown up"

What - again?

Anybody checked the stockholders of the local pipe supply company?

#8  Iran has less than its share of oil refinery fires, it seems, it's about time for them to close the gap. Meanwhile, in the USA, a Valero oil refinery fire in the Texas panhandle has caused the loss of 170,000 barrels of crude refining capacity for the next several weeks.

#9 Not a lot of guys with head injuries after slipping on banana peels, but a few have departed this vale of tears as a result of airplane/heli crashes.

#10 I still think the Iranians will slip and attack one of our ships (or "capture", a la The Pueblo). I believe most Americans would accept that as an act of war

#11 (or "capture", a la The Pueblo).

Frank, I don't think that's ever going to happen again.

#12 I'd go further, Dr. White. The strategy will be to drop the mullahs from within through cutting Iran off from the world. Incrementally increasing sanctions like the ones used against North Korea should be felt by the elites and noticed by the masses.

If they want to close the straits of Hormuz, great. That will stop the Eurocheaters from continuing to supply them. We don't want any more gasoline imports to get through to them either. They are clearly having their problems building the nuke and they aren't going to be getting any help from Dear Leader, however valuable that might have been, in resolving them.

If Bush can get the Iranians to throw out the mullahs, he can claim victory over each member of the axis of evil. Then Pencilneck will fall into line.

#13 I agree, Steve W. Increase entropy and give the MMs some worries in their backyard. It's a Sun Tzu thing: why should you do a frontal assault when termites will do?

Want to f*ck with us? We will f*ck with you. The carrier groups are tempting bait, but have a bad bite.

#14 Hope the good Doc is right. Maybe the carrier battle groups are simple (albeit damn well armed) distractions, maybe the hills are alive with the sound of (American) money.
