#2 So, any more opposition on my prediction of a "quid pro quo" in the hostage release? This is the usual betrayal of our troops on the ground. More of them will die for this bit of diplomatic pretidigitation.

Pat Dollard claims that Mohammed Javad Sharaf-Zadeh, aka the Iranian "diplomat" Jalal Sharafi, and the top Iranian terror-master in Iraq, was traded for the 15 British sailors.

We delivered a major Iranian terror-master back to the mullahs in exchange for abandoning a picture perfect casus belli. Talk about a lose-lose proposition. Now, instead, lots more than fifteen Coalition troops (i.e., Americans) can continue to die from Iranian EFDs.

At the same time, many Iranians remain in American custody, including the five men alleged to be members of the Quds Force. They were captured January 10 during a raid of an Iranian outpost in Irbil. Yesterday, Iran's press reported that Washington had agreed to allow emissaries from Tehran to visit the five Iranians being held. Prime Minister Maliki has also called for their release.

Why is Maliki still consuming oxygen? This bastard is an Iranian puppet.

Six British soldiers have died in quick succession in Basra.

So, while the captives were ~~released~~ traded, the killing continues unabated. Tell me about this "progress" thingy one more time.

I realize that some will say the Coalition forces came out ahead because we had the opportunity to interrogate Sharafi, but putting him back into circulation so he can keep killing our soldiers just doesn't seem like much more than snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

The message being sent to Iran is that they can get away with murder and, in keeping with that message, they continue to do so.
