So the change in the intelligence estimate is significant - but baseless.

#4 The defections are lovely, and no doubt contribute to nervous breakdowns in the religious oligarchy. (Congratulations to those who are getting things done at the CIA!) But the nuclear weapons work as such doesn't matter. The key is accumulating the refined uranium, and that has continued... with Iran currently looking to acquire another 50,000 centrifuges, if I recall correctly.

#9 I can't believe anything I hear from the CIA.

They are either

1) fools,

2) dhimmicrats (but I repeat myself) or

3) deliberately spreading disinformation to confuse the enemy in which case they are also confusing the American people.

I don't like any of these conclusions. Can anyone do any better? I can only hope that Bush is getting better information from them than we are but it's a slim hope.

#10 It's not legal for the CIA to plant false information in a domestic news source. At least I don't think it is. So if this story did start in the LA Times, it's not disinformation by the folks at CIA.
