#6 There are several plants in Louisiana that, if prepared properly, will give you quite a buzz - more than marijuana, but less than hard stuff like heroin or cocaine. You can make a 'tea' from one of them that will give you a GOOD night's sleep - 14-16 hours, nonstop, without a morning hangover. All of them have side effects that keep most people from trying them more than once. Sounds like the Thais have found something similar, and lacking alcohol or other opportunities, are going for it. As long as their behavior doesn't cause harm to others, I don't particularly care what they do.
