#3 It's good news. When people complain about daily life that means security has improved substantially.

The walls will come down over the next few years as the Iraqis get a better and better grip on daily security. It won't be news (at least to the MSM) when it happens, but I think it will.

#4 Welcome to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. First people care about physical safety, then food and shelter. Then concerns become more and more trivial till they are worried about the right shade of nail polish.

There will be plenty of "buts" to complain about; but if you read between the lines, life is becoming more and more normal.
