#1 U.S. tells Russia to pull forces out of Georgia
The Russian intervention came as something of a surprise to U.S. military officials who spent recent days monitoring the fighting in South Ossetia and Russia's military buildup. "The build-up of forces was more than expected and they moved earlier than we thought they would," said a U.S. military official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Why, it's almost like if it was planned.

#2 This isn't a problem for the immediate future if the Georgians stay put. They're dug in and the terrain is not conducive to arty or air attacks. Think Monte Cassino.
