#1 Related: According to the WA Sec of State, there are 3,515,393 registered voters here. The estimated 2006 state population is 6,395,798, with the average household consisting of 2.53 people. This registered voter number works out to about 1.819 people per household. And there are still over 400k applications to be processed plus any more that are delivered before the end of registration (Oct 20, IIRC)
ACORN is busy here,too, it appears.

#2 Registration ended yesterday here in Ohio. It was reported that ACORN was bussing in homeless people, and the registration offices for the counties in this area were very busy. I believe six days earlier they started accepting absentee ballots; it's expected that double the usual number will be sent in... but that also means there will be plenty of time to check that those voters are legitimate.

You're lucky. Here in Wisconsin the State Elections Board is fighting 'tooth & nail' to NOT check legitimacy (they've had a couple of years to implement the Federal law, but it's "too difficult" for them to do on such 'short notice').
