#1 Well, it IS a LOT bigger.

#2 Add to that the last time India and China went at it, India lost a bunch of territory that is now formally incorporated into China. And China is talking about the "historical ties between Assam and China", just like they did before they invaded North Vietnam to carve off the mountain border lands.

#3 Yes, apparently a large chuck of India is/was "lower Tibet" and belongs to the Motherland

#6 You'd think. But as was noted above, they've looked for it there in the past. Plus, as their actions with North Korea show, they may well be...kinda dumb.

#7 Not dumb, overweeningly arrogant. Never forget that anyone that is not Han Chinese is a foreign devil/dog, and not worthy of consideration. That has been a central facet of Chinese policy for at least 3,000 years.

Yessir, correct. Throughout China and Japan, ethic minority characteristics are removed and then assimilated by the dominant culture, ie: the Han and the Yamoto, respectively.

Languicide (death of one's native langauge), forcing the minority to take Chinese or Japanese dominant cultural surnames, redistribution of wealth, all these techniques is how China and Japan have long kept their cultures going.

A great example is in Japan. The Ainu people who are northern Japan's indigenous people, have been marginalised so much that many weren't even allowed to know they were from an ethnic minority. According to Wiki "In many cases, surviving Ainu may not be even aware of their ancestry, as their parents and grandparents kept their descent private in order to protect their children from social problems."
