#2 who was minutes away from fleeing the U.S. when his Dubai-bound flight was returned to its gate at New York's Kennedy Airport

The airplane could have been ordered back so long as it was within the borders of the United States. And even beyond: had the pilot been radioed that he had a terrorist on board -- without further definition -- would he not have quietly returned? Or not so quietly -- the pantybomber was tied up and dumped in a corner of the plane under guard until the marshals took him away.

#3 Not sure if the pilot was aware, but word I heard this morning, they were following him, even to letting him on the plane, in hopes he would make that one more cell phone call -- to trace it, of course.

#4 The capture comes after the arrest of a Pakistani-born U.S. citizen, who was minutes away from fleeing the U.S. when his Dubai-bound flight was returned to its gate at New York's Kennedy Airport and U.S. officials escorted him from the plane, along with two other men.

There goes racist Amerikkka profiling again. Quick! Get Holder in the sensitive compartmented information facility for real-time updates of this atrocity.

#5 IF this is really the guy, then damned good job to all involved. Maybe with luck it will generate some leads as well.

#6 Pakistan makes arrests connected to NYC bomb attempt
Pakistani police arrested several people on Tuesday in connection with the failed Times Square car bomb attack in New York, security sources said.

"We have picked up a few family members" related to Faisal Shahzad, the chief suspect in the attempted attack, a security official in Karachi said. A friend of Shahzad was also arrested.

#7 The fly in the ointment? It is prosecution after the fact, not prevention of the attack. The law enforcement approach. We may not be so lucky the next time.
