#5 So we will have a new crisis. My thought is we will follow the natural course of things by giving government control of our discretionary income. A debit card is all we will have to use on anything we acquire. Everything will be rounded off so no change or money given back. We will use the card for everything. Driving, what we eat, medical, so we will either be approved or declined for each and every activity. Think of the intervention at every turn. The government owned banks will be funded and programed to fund each person an amount they feel you are allowed.
So discretionary income is at their discretion.

#9 If we take Congress' credit cards away in 2010 and rollback and cleanup Congress' playground, our country might have a chance. The government has to refrain from their psychopathic urges towards social engineering, regulation of everything, and taxes. The government also has to start thinking that business is not a dirty work and start working towards stimulating American business again rather than handicapping and neutering it.

It doesn't matter. Once the baby boomers are eligible for SS and Medicare in large numbers, it will overwhelm the budget. You can zero out every other federal spending and SS, medicare and interest will will still cause the budget to be in deficit.
