#1 Someone has to explain why Iraq, with all that oil and natural gas, can't make enough electricity for itself.

That's easy, no refineries, they've got tar, that's all.

#2 "At the present, about 1,500 megawatts of electricity is being exported to Iraq daily,"

This sentence doesn't make sense. Watt measures power, not energy nor 'electricity' whatever that's supposed to mean.

Did they mean to say 1,500 MW * 24 hours or 1,500 MWh?

#3 Elsewhere in the article:

Iran exports some 11 billion kilowatt hours of electricity to its neighbouring countries annually, while imports three to four billion kilowatt hours of electricity

I'd say the blame lies with journalistic/editorial laziness.
