#1 17 February Brigade was the militia (designated by the Libyan gov't for VIP protection) hired by the US State Department to provide security for the Benghazi consulate. Ostensibly disbanded after the consulate attack, it was still patrolling Benghazi as of early this year.

17 February may be at odds with Ansar al Sharia elements in Benghazi, hence the attack.
