#1 the FBI director said it's sometimes useful to let terrorists back into the country and watch them

Of course there'll be the occasional workplace violence and a marathon bombing or two...

#2 the FBI director said it's sometimes useful to let terrorists back into the country and watch them

Which is another way of saying, most of the time it's not useful. Wring every last ounce of information from them, then throw them into a cell with Chelsea Manning.

#3 the FBI director said it's sometimes useful to let terrorists back into the country and watch them

Releasing those held in GITMO has also helped us uncover developing threats like ISIS/ISIL.... before it could become a real danger.

Partial list of those who have returned to the fight.

#4 Hirono said she chose to throw up a road block because 'legislation that grants the government the ability to strip citizenship from Americans is a serious matter raising significant constitutional issues.'

Bullshi* She got the 'short straw' from the Dem power structure. No way in hell any of her constituents are about to object to her actions or switch parties.

#5 the FBI director said it's sometimes useful to let terrorists back into the country and watch them

"If we let them back in to the country, we can play all kinds of cool spy games, like trying to follow them, or developing them as intelligence assets and spy stuff and stuff. Of course, mistakes are sometimes made and things like work-place violence and the odd marathon bombing happen, but that's not our fault because of REASONS!"

#6 Since the IS has had the grace to declare itself a sovereign nation dedicated to the destruction of the United States, is there any reason not to simply treat repatriated IS fighters the way the Nazi infiltrators & would-be saboteurs were treated in 1942? You, know execution for most & prolonged imprisonment for those who betrayed the mission & turned states' evidence? I'm feeling SO un-PC this morning, must be the coffee....

#7 Maybe Sen. Mazie Hirono is afraid that Champ's passport might be seized when he is abroad and he can't return to the U.S. to continue his harm? Hmmmmnn. O.K. it was just a fanciful thought this Friday a.m.

#8 Thank you Sen. Hirono.

Hawaii is like the 41 year old jobless son who lives in your basement. No one should be concerned about them attempting any sort of Hawaiian nationalism [Scottish secessionist] movement. Noises, bitc*ing and moaning yes, pull away..... never fok'n happen.

#10 Suspect this has more to do with trying to marginalize Cruz.

#11 Let them back in with handcuffs, follow them around? Like letting burning tumbleweeds through your fireline and smugging, "They will burn out soon." as the jihadis go about their recruiting and inspiring. No letter of marque? Foreign operative, no entry.

#13 I've become so cynical and paranoid from the deprivations on our liberty that I'm not sure I support this law.

Remember how many things that were part of the "War on Terror" have turned into generalized police state tactics and policies.

I don't trust any of them.

#14 Exactly, AlanC. The "Patriot" Act comes to mind. The potential for abuse is astounding. Who gives a shit about Constitutional protections when the .gov can strip anyone it deems a terrorist of citizenship. Any dissent will become terrorism. Oh wait, this regime already labels dissent as domestic terrorism. Besides, doesn't fighting under a foreign flag already revoke citizenship?
