#1 Sheikh Bob??? is that Baghdad Bob??

I find it hard to get either of my heads around the fact that supposedly fanatical devout Moslems are blowing up places of worship of their own faith...of course nothing they do makes sense.

I sometimes wonder if ISIS is just a collection of that 2.5% of the population that is seriously mentally disturbed with weapons and not really any particular religious agenda.

#2 Sunni vs. Shiite. Of course the 2.5% Shiite vs. Sunni seem to be just as bad. Common factor; both are a Muslim sect with a literal and strict interpretation of the Koran and Religious Laws. It's the other 55% that go along that make that 2.5% so dangerous to the rest of the world.

#5 Wahabbists destroy even Muslim "holy" places because they believe people end up idolating the buildings rather than Mohammed and his gin, er, djinn. ISTR they destroyed ancient buildings in Mecca that had connections to Mohammed, as well.

Plus, many of the mosque sites in the region have been religious sites since Hammurabi and before. They want mosques that didn't inherit their holy place status from the Akkadians.

"{And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allaah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, “We intended only the best.” And Allaah testifies that indeed they are liars. Do not stand [for prayer] within it — ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allaah loves those who purify themselves. Then is one who laid the foundation of his building on righteousness [with fear] from Allaah and [seeking] His approval better or one who laid the foundation of his building on the edge of a bank about to collapse, so it collapsed with him into the fire of Hell? And Allaah does not guide the wrongdoing people."

Basically, Allah told Mohammad to burn the offending mosque (the one established by the hypocrites) and (as stated in the hadith and sunna) he did. This is the Quranic justication that the Islamic State and Boko Haram use.
