#1 It wasn't a "stampede" where people trample each other. It was a "crowd crush" where the volume of people exceeds the available space. People get their chests compressed and die of asphyxiation.

The 2015 tragedy was caused by a Saudi Royal who drove through the procession route, blocking a road and causing the crowd to pile up and crush. GPS won't help one bit with this.
