#3 Jihadis and similar folk thrive when they perceive weakness in the West. The first big example was our reneging on our promises to provide air support to South Vietnam when it was invaded by the North Vietnamese Army.
Carter's pathetic response to outrages by the Iranian revolutionaries was another. Failure to respond to the Lebanese barracks bombing was the next. Passive response to the first Trade Center attack was another. Withdrawal from Iraq another. Bootlicking Iran another. Passive response to more outrages still more. All of these things have energized the Jihadis.
They think not of the past but of the future. They see the possibility of wiping you out, while you dither and blame others for resisting them.
