Would have been perfectly fine and legal, of course. Would have been all kinds of people and rules in place to make sure the First Couple weren't involved, all quite according to Hoyle. Money would have been coming in because the Foundation was so good at making sure it went to the right place, certainly not with any political intent at influence.

#13 IIRC, the last stages of the Roman Republic the corruption was so bad because of all the bribes needed to get a position such as Provincial Governor. Then the province needed to bled to the verge of rebellion to pay off those bribes -- vicious circle time. #14 The Clintons have an awful lot of overhead to support. Their house alone (see here) must cost a pretty penny to maintain, not to mention the gaggle of Secret Service guys camped out in the back garden. And then there’s Chelsea’s $10 mil pad in Manhattan, and Bill’s golf club membership*...

* Ironically, the local golf clubs didn’t want the hassle of hosting such well-guarded politicians, so they ended up joining the nearby Trump project. Hilly can tell you about being discriminated against, yo!
