The report also confirmed that both of the so-called black boxes that contain data and cockpit communications from the plane had been recovered, though they sustained damage and some parts of their memory was lost.

To "invite" US investigators is quite clever. You pretend you have nothing to hide but if US investigators get to the truth they will be expelled and branded as liars. Investigations of course take a LOT of time, so the dust will settle.

A showy funeral is held with more "Death to America chants (there are 56 people and many more injured at the funeral stampede). The rhetorical war settles down. A few days later a plane embarks from Tehran to Kiev on January 8 and crashes in what looks like a missile strike. Iran, in a move towards chumminess, invites the U.S. to assist in investigation the Tehran crash.

#17 ^ It's obviously a ruse. We shouldn't fall for it. Either full transparency, with the investigation conducted by a neutral civilian international aviation body operating with zero restrictions, or we draw our own conclusions based on our and other nations' SIGINT.
