#1 Air conditioning, he said, should be set to 78º from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for example,

Because 78° is so much more tolerable after 3pm as compared to other times of the day.

This is a squirrel. The real problem is voters and politicians alike don't understand how these energy systems work, and those who do are muted. Gee, I wonder why.

#2 Newsom should be arrested for Governing Under the Influence.

Air conditioning, he said, should be set to 78º

No problem. Go to work in swim trunks and flip-flops. A beer coozy hat for formal occasions.

#6 Been right around 90 with near 100% humidity on the Space Coast this summer. Coming in to 78 degrees after mowing the lawn feels just about right.

#7 Have not had a 100 degree day since I moved here. Was good for 3-4 +100 days back in PeeAye every summer. Have a friend in Mississippi who says they clock 100 degrees 8-10 days each summer.

#8 And I believe CALPERS, by law, had to invest x-amount in "green" companies.

And how about "sobering up" as to the reasons people (read: the one who pay taxes) are fleeing California.

#9 It's not that California needs to sober up, liberals need to sober up. Conservatives have been pointing this out for years as they dismantled nuclear plants and blocked the building of dams.

#10 My Dad lived on a north facing hillside off 94/Campo Road near Jamul. He never had AC, he just adjusted the window openings depending on the time of day and let the constant breeze do it's thing.

And the house was a light color, pretty well insulated and had a clay tile roof.

#11 Had to turn on the hearth-stove this morning in NH to take the chill off.

53 was a trifle cool with the windows all open.

#13 We have hot summers every year in SC, and nothing like this ever happens to us. Wonder why that could be?

#14 AC is about drying the air. If it's dry enough to make the sweat on you evaporate it's dry enough.

#15 I run two small de humidifiers at far ends of the house. They take load off the AC plant, my electric bill proves it.
