The only hurt Cuomo would have actually felt would have been some NY voters finding out even after MSM avoided it. But never any serious criminal threat of convictions in the end.

In all honesty I don't think Trump had control of the DOJ AG after around 2018. I feel the Deep DC State had figured out a way to end-run and or control the AG and did.

They had nothing to fear. The DOJ didn't really resolve anything that Trump wanted them to during the last four years, and tried to resolve a lot of stuff he didn't want.

Yup. Traditionally parties don't run against the incumbent, but the very unlikable Harris would not technically be an incumbent and the new would have worn off by then. Best to squash potential rivals now and let the tall dandylion biden take the heat.
