#3 So far Biden has continued the US sanctions against Iran. In fact on 8 Feb, Biden said the sanctions would continue until Iran complied with the 2015 JCPOA (which of course would be impossible for Iran given that they would have to dispose of a lot of enriched U and other stuff).

So unless Biden moves on the 8 Feb policy, anything he does directly on Iran is pretty symbolic.

Indirectly we help Iran by curtailing oil production in the USA (as it raises world oil prices). This probably matters more than all the symbolic stuff.
