#3  "...the consistent and rapid decline in daily cases since Jan. 8 can be explained only by natural immunity.

Possibly. It is also possible that the numbers reflect the new, more realistic Covid test protocol unexpectedly recommended by the CDC after Joe Biden was certified as president, which would suggest actual illnesses started falling earlier — whether somewhat or considerably — possibly from a combination of increased natural immunity and the virus having mostly gone through population clusters... and/or as has been suggested here, Covid-19 follows the same infection pattern as the annual flu, which comes back in a new variation or several every year, as do the common cold versions of Covid.

It’s also possible that the dear fellows at Zero Hedge like to stir up their readers, who like being stirred up, which is why I’ve moved the article to Page 4: Opinion.

Finally: Raj, now is not the time for a flame war. Later is also not the time.

#8 Those who are emotionally, politically, financially or professionally invested in "COVID4Evah!" will not have their minds changed by anything anyone says. Nor by any evidence before their lying eyes. So best to be like Galileo, allocute that "COVID is the center of the Universe and the Sun and stars orbit around it and always will" while standing before Pope Fauxi I and his cardinals, then stride forth, reminding yourself under your breath "And yet, it isn't."

In other words, g(r)om is free to endlessly lecture us on covid-19 and I'm not supposed to respond.

Fine - ban me from Rantburg, then.

#11 So far, South Dakota, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah, and Tennessee.

My home state is in this list. However, the state has lagged behind many other states in giving CV-19 vaccines. Could it be that herd immunity has been approached naturally without the vaccination?

#12 The thought that herd immunity numbers are approaching, state by state, is a happy one. I’m glad you brought that to our attention, Raj. I suspect that should this become an annual thing like the flu, it will never be as bad as 2020 even if that Wuhan lab gets creative again.

Dunno about that, tw. COVID-20 might be a real humdinger. Wouldn't put it past them, especially if arrives right around 2023.

#14 I predict herd immunity will assert itself and the pandemic will decrease greatly in intensity long, long before the "experts" agree on a definition or herd immunity and on immunity to COVID-19 means. You read it here first!

...I'm not normally a conspiracy minded guy - but I'm afraid any more we can't rule out the possibility that A) the numbers were being cooked, or B) that they never have been right through error and incompetence.

#18  COVID-20 might be a real humdinger. Wouldn't put it past them, especially if arrives right around 2023.

Sure, Abu Uluque. But we know how to handle it now. Make sure everyone is topped off for vitamins D, C, and A. Sequester the most vulnerable, have the rest wash/sanitize hands a lot, get good PPE to the front line medical people, throw all the treatments at anyone who shows symptoms to help support them while their bodies fight the thing before they need to be hospitalized, sequence the infective thing (bacteria, virus, fungus) and guarantee that companies looking for vaccines will have their research costs covered, X number of doses purchased if their product works, and the FDA fast- tracking the research*. And don’t shut down the economy, close schools, or let Dr. Fauci anywhere near a microphone.

* We would have had the Prizer vaccine out for the most vulnerable in October, had the CEO not chosen to play politics to prevent President Trump from claiming that as a win leading into the election.

#20 Where's the heck's the fun and graft in that TW?

My guess is that this will be a 'War on Pandemics' which will always be a campaign issue, always fought with more and more money... but somehow, unexpectedly, never actually won...

After all the 'War on Terror' is getting a little long in the tooth. Following after 'War on Drugs', War on Poverty'. 'War in Inflation' is about to have a comeback after they get those printing presses rolling for awhile...
