#3 Alec Baldwin. Poster Child for Firearm Safety.

I have the same briefing with other tools, like Mr. Tablesaw. Mr. Tablesaw doesn't care if you got 8 hours of sleep or 2, don't care if you got laid last night, or broke up, or moved, or won the lottery. Mr. Tablesaw doesn't even care if it just worked fine for the last user.

Get careless, get hurt.

#4  Mr. Tablesaw doesn't care...
My older brother (who can still count to ten on his fingers) gave me the additional advice on power tools: "Don't trust the (quote) Safety Features (un-quote) to save you from injury."

#5 Have the resume shooting on the set?

#6 Ever since The Incident, the intertubes have been aflame with practical, life-saving rules for handling guns and some really stupid commentary.

Assume the gun is loaded, always check for yourself and never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot. This is required gun safety in the real world whether at the range, in 4H gun safety class, or home alone.

But this was a movie set. Movies are pretend. When the aliens destroyed the White House, when the giant dinosaur stomped down Tokyo, when the rogue financier broke the Bank of England... all make-believe pretend. (OK, maybe that last one really happened).

Famous Lawyer Guy said Baldwin should be charged with murder for picking up a gun, pointing it at someone and pulling the trigger. The stupid, it burns. It's a movie, people. Not the real world. But playing pretend does not mean it isn't dangerous.

Everyone on a movie set has a specific job. And part of that job is safety. When a lighting guy rigs an overhead light, he safety chains it, just in case a clamp slips. Just to be sure. Same with props and stunts and every other department. There are things you must do to make sure no one ends up injured or dead.

An actor is puppet, a programmable robot who goes here, does this, and says that, all controlled by the script. It is not the actor's job to check the props. That falls to the prop department, specifically the armorer. In this case, the armorer was a young gal doing her second big movie. Someone did not verify this gun was in a proper safe state. My guess is someone along the food chain was rushing production and steps got skipped. I've also read that the gun was used earlier for plinking at cans which strikes me as incredibly irresponsible.

Like swksvolFF said, Get careless, get hurt. Or worse. Sorry for the long rant but the misplaced blame and outrage really cheeses me off.

My understanding is that its Baldwin's production.

#8 If Baldwin is in trouble its not because what he did as an actor, but what he *might* have done as a Producer.

OK, on a Frank G irresponsible production I could see this happening, along with with drinking breakfast before the plinking. WTF?
