Actually, that's fine by me. The longer he hangs in there (barring any impeachment), the better the chance Kamala does not get to sit in the Oval Office.

#6 Joe’s advisors probably understood this could not be fixed after Trump went through and had his show. Now the game will be a race by the candidates to beat Trump to the next disaster site with water, etcetera. I don’t think Nikki Haley will pull it off. Her highest priority is donor meetings. Joe will not be able to quick react due to whatever medical regime allows him to make periodic coherent statements. The other declared candidates are irrelevant.
Another interesting question is whether Joe can go on vacation before visiting East Palestine. I think that is why Buttigieg slunk through.
