#1 This attack likely caused a chill to inflict the Arab leadership. Atbara is north of Khartoum on the Nile River, and is a city that has been free of conflict. If the RSA wanted to send a warning that no part of the Sudan will be free of conflict until it gains what its objectives in western Sudan, it has done so.
