5 INVESTIGATES: Have Muslim cab drivers changed their ways?
2007-02-27
At least someone is looking into this. Reminder, this all started with a fatwa issued by local mullahs link

A previous 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS investigation found that some airport drivers refused service to passengers with guide dogs and people under the influence of alcohol.

Monday, we went undercover again to see if drivers have changed their ways.

For our investigation we implored the help of Deb Swenson.
Swenson counts on her guide dog Kudo to help her travel safely everywhere she goes.

Swenson told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS more often than not, drivers have refused to give her a ride because of Kudo, which is a violation of state and federal law.

"They say they don't have to take the dog because it is against their religion," Swenson said.

Currently in Minnesota, if a driver refuses to take a passenger from the airport they have to go all the way to back of the line and wait hours for their next fare. A harsh punishment, but nowhere near as harsh as what the Metropolitan Commission is considering.

The MAC will issue a 30-day suspension for a driver's first offense; a second offense would mean the loss of their license altogether.

For our investigation Swenson attempted to catch a cab at the airport. In most cases, drivers were more than accommodating.

Press play to watch our investigationÂ…

It should be noted that the local Somali leader referred to at the end of the piece supported the Muslim cab drivers refusal. Contrary to what the KSTP anchor reported. Some of the other Burgers in Minnesota will remember his name and who he is.

In the past five years, 5,400 would-be taxi passengers at the airport were refused service for this very reason, said the Metropolitan Airport Commission, or MAC. Last May, passenger Bob Dildine says he waited for 20 minutes, and five cab drivers would not give him and his daughter a ride. He was carrying wine he bought on vacation. Regardless the airport has decided to give the Islamics their own pray room.

This would be a good law. While it would be difficult to enforce, it sends the message that mosques don't make the laws. Just like equal opportunity rules, it doesn't mean discrimination won't occur, it just makes it clear that such activity is illegal.

#2  "Have Muslim cab drivers changed their ways?"

That would be a big fat NO.

Why would you bother to ask?

#1  Loved the reference to the furry blonde in the report, but a bit further on the cab driver shifts the blame to the Met Airport Authority for not making the rules clear. Apparently, Mossies have no need to know about State or Federal Law. Seems like a case of them seeing how they can push it, and they never heard that "Ignorance of the Law" is no excuse.

Taqiya, after the fact. And why give them all these chances? They only want the kaffir money, anyway, tell them one chance was enough, bye.
