Clueless Yellen fails to stave off bank crisis as First Republic sinks
[NYPOST] There are leaders who rise to the moment. Think Churchill and Roosevelt facing down the Nazi threat. Ronald Reagan’s famously accurate assessment of the former Soviet Union as an "evil empire."

The moment now is also in need of leadership. Does Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity....
have the chops to face down multiple global threats and secure our borders? And does his economic team, led by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, understand what could be in store for the economy as yet another bank heads for failure?

Sleepy Joe, of course, has been such an obvious disaster, it’s hard for even the mostly coddling White House press corps to ignore his incessant bungling. Yellen, meanwhile, has been given a total pass even though her stewardship has been equally inept. No greater example of Yellen’s cluelessness can be found than her stuttering attempts to adequately deal with the still smoldering banking crisis.

Another big bank, First Republic, is heading for government receivership. As I reported earlier this week on Fox Business, top banking execs with direct knowledge of the matter knew that First Republic was a goner. It was just a matter of time because its business was beyond repair. Despite that, Yellen led a misguided last-ditch effort to save it for no other reason than to save face. She wanted to fool the American people into believing the banking system and even the entire economy is fine, when it’s not.

Consider that for weeks now, Yellen’s message has been one of optimism. Fed rate hikes caused some financial indigestion (aka two midsized bank failures) but the worst was over. The US economy was poised for a soft landing; slower growth to squeeze out inflation but no steep recession.

This rosy scenario was predicated in part on her belief that a significant banking crisis had been averted, and bank lending would soon resume at prior levels. The collapse of Silicon Valley and Signature banks weeks ago were one-offs because Yellen and her team swooped in and threw money at the problem, insuring all deposits — even those above the government limit of $250,000. It didn’t matter that it was a bailout for rich tech-company-types with ties to the Democratic Party. Systemic risk was averted.

Soros-backed prosecutor Kim Gardner says 'I ain't leaving, I ain't resigning' as contempt case moves forward
[NYPOST] St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner was defiant Saturday even as a contempt of court case against her advanced this week.

"I ain’t leaving. I ain’t resigning. You gonna have to remove me," the embattled George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
-funded prosecutor said during a criminal justice town hall discussion, according to KDSK News news hound Mark Maxwell. "I lost a lot of attorneys because they were afraid to do what’s right."

Gardner additionally claimed that saboteurs inside her office were attempting to undermine her and that the police union only agreed to "let" her remain if office if she refused to hold them accountable.

Judge Michael Noble announced Thursday he would appoint a special prosecutor to build the case against Gardner after her office failed to show up for several high-profile assault prosecutions.

"It appears that Ms. Gardner has complete indifference and a conscious disregard for the judicial process," Noble said, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Gardner’s office resembled a "rudderless ship of chaos," he added.

In addition to her legal troubles, Gardner is also facing a lawsuit from Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey attempting to remove her over repeated instances where her office allegedly failed to enforce the law.

"This is about protecting the people of the city of St. Louis, restoring the rule of law, and finding justice for victims. We brought this suit to remove a prosecutor who has refused to perform her duties to the people of St Louis," Bailey said in March after filing the suit.

Friends urging disgraced Anthony Weiner to run for office
[NYPOST] Friends and allies of Anthony Carlos Danger Weiner
...aka Hot Dog Tony, the remarkably offensive sex maniac six-term New York congressman who resigned in 2011, then decided everybody had forgotten by 2013, when he decided to run for mayor of New York City...
are urging the disgraced ex-congressman to stage a political comeback.
He's a Dem. They'll vote for him.
The former pol raised eyebrows after he attended the Inner Circle charity dinner with his estranged wife Huma Abedin last Saturday.

"He has been encouraged to run for office by me and others ... When politics is in your blood as it is in his, I don’t think you ever rule it out," said Curtis Sliwa, who hosts "The Left Versus The Right" with Weiner on 77 WABC radio.

"To be the moderate Democrat, to be what this city needs now to take it back from AOC. He knows the moderate path to save the city.

"There’s always going to be misgivings lingering. That will never go away," Sliwa said of Weiner’s sordid past. "He has to constantly speak out on the subject of his problems and how you can make amends for that. You can become an example. That’s the only way."

Sliwa had pushed Weiner to throw his name into the brutal lower Manhattan congressional Democratic primary in 2022, which ultimately went to Levi Strauss heir and parking ticket scofflaw Dan Goldman.

Biden blasts 'MAGA Republicans' as 'the real problem' at DNC reception
[NYPOST] President Biden laid out the terms of his upcoming reelection campaign — claiming "MAGA Republicans" are the "real problem" America is facing today.

"The real problem is those MAGA Republicans," Biden said at a reception for the Democratic National Committee Friday. "MAGA Republicans are trying to take us backwards. But together, we’re not going to let them do it. Not an inch back."

The line is a direct salvo at former President Trump, who remains the 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner — despite an avalanche of ongoing scandals and investigations.

Biden also used the speech to tout a series of legislative accomplishments during his first two years in office, including the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the American Rescue Plan and bipartisan infrastructure and gun reform laws.

"I’m here tonight to ask your help to help me finish the job. And, folks, here’s the bottom line. It’s very simple: We need you. Our democracy needs you, because this is about our freedoms." Biden said offering many of the themes likely to dominate the upcoming race.

"Let’s keep growing the economy in the middle — from the middle out and the bottom up. Let’s protect — protect a woman’s right to choose and codify Roe v. Wade," he said to applause.

#4  "Let’s keep growing the economy in the middle — from the middle out and the bottom up."

Leaving aside the standard incoherence and idiocy here from the incoherent idiot, just savor the absurd distortion of reality. Real income for the lower income demos grew for the first time in decades during the last administration (for reasons related to policy, not business cycles, demographics, or UFOs). That's over. Because every policy behind that was junked. But this kind of North Korean Defense Ministry-style ridiculous mendacity is now standard, and unchallenged, in US politix.
