Border Patrol apprehensions of Chinese nationals at southern border up 800%: source
[FoxNews] Chinese nationals are typically charged more by human smugglers.

Border Patrol apprehensions of Chinese nationals crossing into the U.S. illegally are currently up more than 800% when compared to the same time last year, Fox News has learned.

A senior Customs and Border Protection (CBP) source said that apprehensions of nationals from China are up 800% compared to the same period last fiscal year when including January — the numbers for which have not yet been released.

According to CBP statistics, there have been 1,862 Border Patrol encounters with Chinese nationals between October, when the fiscal year began, and the end of December. That’s compared to 229 in the same period in FY 2022, which would be a more than 700% increase.

In December, there were 931 Chinese nationals encountered, compared to 64 in December 2021.

A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) source told Fox News that as of Wednesday, the Rio Grande Valley sector had 15 Chinese nationals in custody, all of whom are adults ranging in ages from their 20s to their 50s.

Fox is told that they are typically processed for expedited removal unless they claim to have a credible fear of persecution if returned to the country — where the Chinese Communist Party holds power.

As a result, many are claiming that fear and are subsequently being released into the U.S. on their own recognizance and with a notice to appear for a court date for their immigration hearings.

The DHS is on the lookout for potential Chinese spies and other national security threats arriving at the southern border.

Last week, three Chinese nationals who each paid human smugglers $35,000 were apprehended in Texas. Smugglers typically charge Chinese nationals a higher rate.

The U.S. southern border is in the throes of a historic migrant crisis, with more than 251,000 migrant encounters in December — although Fox is told that number dropped to around 150,000 in January, something for which the Biden administration is linking to recent border measures unveiled last month.

Nationals from at least 170 countries arrived at the border last year.

Dozens of NYPD officers pack courtroom for first hearing of accused cop-killer
[NYPOST] More than 100 of New York’s Finest packed a Brooklyn courtroom Wednesday as the career criminal accused of fatally shooting off-duty cop Adeed Fayaz
...a Pakistani-American who came to America at the age of five, and by middle school had decided he wanted to become a New York City policeman...
faced a judge for the first time on the murder charge.

Randy "Popper" Jones, 38, wore a Tyvek suit as he was arraigned on the first-degree murder rap and ordered held at Rikers Island without bail by Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Dale Fong-Frederick.

The hearing came the day after Fayaz, a 26-year-old married father of two, departed this vale of tears at Brookdale Hospital, where he had been on life support since the Saturday evening shooting.

Prosecutors said Jones — who has a lengthy rap sheet — had an outstanding traffic warrant and was wanted in a statutory rape case in Virginia when he allegedly shot Fayaz in the head during a botched robbery in East New York.

Fayaz, a five-year veteran of the NYPD, had gone with his brother-in-law, a livery cab driver, to meet the seller of a Honda Odyssey advertised on Facebook Marketplace shortly before 7 p.m. Feb. 4, when he was ambushed.
It would have been an easy money scam, but it became murder instead.
"When Officer Fayaz and his brother arrived, the defendant whipped out a rod, demanded money and then shot Officer Fayaz when they didn’t produce the money, which they had left in the car along with the bill of sale," Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Leila Rosini said in court.

“Tragically, and unbeknownst to the defendant, the $24,000 in cash was in their car, just not on their person and he did not wait,” she said.

“He just shot.”

Fayaz’s relative then grabbed the young cop’s gun and fired off several rounds at their attacker, leaving a bullet hole in the getaway BMW SUV as it sped away, prosecutors said.

Jones, of Harlem, was on the lam for two days before cops tracked him down at a Days Inn hotel in Nanuet in Rockland County on Monday, where he was holed up with his girlfriend.

He was taken into custody with Fayaz’s handcuffs and hauled back to Brooklyn.

Jones was hit with charges of murder and robbery Tuesday evening following Fayaz’s death.

The fallen officer received a traditional “transfer of remains” ceremony at the hospital, as flags were flown at half-staff at his Borough Park precinct in his honor.

They need to be removed from society, since they have repeatedly proven they can't function as non-violent members of society within it.

The French Devil's Island criminal control methodology comes to mind. And, it just happens that NY/US Gov. has a mostly unused Plum Island.

Maybe isolation for the protection of society wasn't such a bad idea. Maybe it just needed better administration?

[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN MAKE NEW PLEAS FOR SANCTION RELIEF AND RECOGNITION – In what appears to be a coordinated effort, the Taliban Minister for Justice and the Taliban spokesman (Zabiullah Mujahid) called on international leaders to both recognize the IEA as the legitimate government of Afghanistan and to lift travel sanctions that have been imposed on Taliban leaders. It is unlikely that either request will be seriously considered after the backward bans on women’s education/work and the inhumane punishments imposed by the Ministry of Justice for low-level offenses.

  • $40 MILLION IN AID ARRIVED IN KABUL – Da Afghanistan Bank officials said the cash package arrived on Wednesday and was deposited into a commercial bank. Several international news organizations and other humanitarian aid groups have called into question the economic aid program in Afghanistan and have suggested it is being diverted to Taliban leaders and officials. The United Nations has pushed back against any criticism and continue to state the Taliban have no access to the funds. Two ongoing investigative reports by anonymous journalists claim to have secured proof that the Taliban are enriching themselves off the economic aid and plan to release their reports in March or April.

  • SELECT NEWS WEBSITES BEING CENSORED IN AFGHANISTAN – Reporting from various Provinces suggest that several websites have been blocked by privately owned carriers who provide cellular service in the country. Dozens of Saudi military vehicles reported crossing into Yemen
[HodhodYemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
News] Dozens of Saudi military and armored vehicles left on Wednesday al-Wadiah border crossing towards Yemeni territory.

Sources familiar with the matter said that the countless vehicles left the al-Wadiah crossing, likely heading towards the city of Aden, and Seiyun, the capital of the districts of Wadi Hadhramaut.

The sources pointed out the Saudi reinforcements towards Yemen indicates dangerous developments in the southern military scene, after Riyadh established the forces of the so-called "Dera al-Watan forces" (Shield of the Homeland) belonging to bad boy Salafist groups from the southern provinces.

On Tuesday, Mohammed Taher Anam, a leader of the "Salafi Rashad Party" and an advisor to the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, confirmed that Saudi Arabia

American Stockbroker Who Abandoned Family To Join Terrorists In Syria Convicted Of Becoming Sniper, Instructor For ISIS
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Ruslan Maratovich Asainov, a former New York stockbroker-turned-Islamic State group militant has been convicted of becoming a sniper and trainer for the extremist group during its brutal reign in Syria and Iraq.

The trial of the Kazakh-born U.S. citizen is the latest in a series of cases against people accused of leaving their homelands around the world to join the militants in combat, according to a statement on the U.S. Ministry of Justice website.

“Today’s verdict in an American courtroom is a victory for our system of justice” and against the Islamic State group, Brooklyn-based U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement. Asainov’s lawyers had no immediate comment.

A one-time broker who doted on his toddler daughter, Asainov converted to Islam around 2009 and later quit his job and started watching radical sermons online, his ex-wife testified. He abruptly left his family in Brooklyn in December 2013 and made his way to Syria as IS stormed to power.

In a case built largely on Asainov’s own words in messaging apps, emails, recorded phone calls and an FBI interview, prosecutors said he fought in numerous battles and built a notable profile in IS by becoming a sniper and later an instructor of nearly 100 other long-range shooters.

“The evidence has shown that people died as a result of the defendant’s conduct. It is time to hold him accountable,” prosecutor Douglas Pravda told a Brooklyn federal court jury in a closing argument.

Asainov, 46, didn’t testify, telling the court he was “not part of this process.”

According to the report; his lawyers didn’t dispute that he went to Syria and was affiliated with the Islamic State group, but they argued that his accounts of his role were boasts that had no firsthand corroboration and didn’t prove anyone died because of his 1

Jurors, whose identities were kept confidential, found Asainov guilty of offences that include providing and attempting to provide material support to what the U.S. designates a foreign terrorist organisation.

The jury also concluded that his actions caused at least one death, a finding that means he faces the potential of life in prison. His sentencing is set for June 7.

IS fighters seized chunks of Iraq and Syria in 2014, sweeping millions of people into a so-called caliphate ruled according to the group’s iron-fisted interpretation of Islamic law, enforced through massacres, beheadings, sexual slavery and other atrocities.

The group’s bloody campaign attracted tens of thousands of foreign fighters; at least scores of them were U.S. citizens, according to a 2018 academic report from George Washington University’s Program on Extremism.

Bedouin Israeli brothers charged with supplying arms to Islamic Jihad in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Shin Bet says Adam and Mohammed Abu Taha, residents of Tel Sheva, supplied 150,000 rounds of ammo, dozens of weapon parts to terror group in Jenin

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. operatives in the West Bank with firearm parts and ammunition.

In December 2022, Border Police troops detained Adam and Mohammed Abu Taha, residents of Tel Sheva, as well as Majdi Amarna, a Paleostinian from the West Bank village of Yabed, near Jenin, over the suspected illegal arms trade.

According to the Shin Bet, the Abu Taha brothers supplied some 150,000 rounds of ammunition and dozens of weapon parts to Islamic Jihad terror operatives in the Jenin area. A complete M16 rifle was seized from the two men during their arrest.

The pair also allegedly sold weapon parts to criminal elements in southern Israel.

Amid the investigation, two more Israeli civilians from the Negev area in southern Israel, Khaled Alaasem and Mughanim Alaasem, were detained over their alleged involvement in the case.

Indictments were filed against the Abu Taha brothers on Thursday at the Beersheba District Court, charging them with various weapons and security offenses.

Prosecutors said the pair knowingly assisted terror operatives: "This is not a one-time event, but rather a methodical and continuous course of action over a period of time that included ongoing and intensive contact and many meetings with PIJ operatives."

An indictment against Amarna was to be filed at a military court in the coming days, and the two additional Israeli civilians were to be charged at the Beersheba court in the coming days too, the Shin Bet said.

"The Shin Bet and Israel Police take extremely seriously the involvement of Israeli citizens in security offenses, while providing service and assistance to terror organizations and their operatives, including the supply of weapons and ammunition, which has the potential to directly and substantially harm the security of the state," the agency said in a statement, adding that it would work to foil such attempts "and bring those involved to justice."

IDF says Palestinian tries to stab soldier in West Bank, is shot dead
[IsraelTimes] Military says suspect was ’neutralized’ after approaching troops with knife near al-Fawar refugee camp, near Hebron

A Paleostinian man who attempted to stab Israeli soldiers near the West Bank city of Hebron on Thursday was shot by troops, the military and medics said. He later died of his injuries.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the suspect, armed with a knife, approached troops at a guard post near the al-Fawar refugee camp and tried to stab them.

"The forces fired at him and neutralized him," the IDF said in a statement, attaching a photo of the knife.

Images from the scene showed the suspect being treated by army medics before being taken to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.

The Rescuers Without Borders emergency service said his death was declared there.

The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry named him as 22-year-old Sharif Hassan Rabaa.

No Israeli soldiers were hurt in the incident, the military said.
