Somali and foreign forces target Al-Shabaab bases with airstrikes
[ShabelleMedia] Friday night, an unmanned aircraft carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in the vicinity of the Galcad district in the Galgadud region, central Somalia.

The reports from the region further indicated that the drone attack targeted a place where members of the al-Shabaab
... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
group were gathering to plot an attack.

In a statement, the government said heavy losses were inflicted on the members of the al-Shabaab who were at the scene of the strike. No independent sources verified the claims.

The statement said another operation took place last night in the Lower Shabelle region, targeting al-Shabaab, and the bases belonging to the group were destroyed in the raid.

"In the Lower Shabelle region, the army also destroyed enemy bases in that region. There are many losses to al-Shabaab in the operations carried out last night in the two regions," said the statement issued by the government.

Somali, foreign forces killed 7 Al-Shabaab militants in a joint operation – governor
[ShabelleMedia] The governor of the Lower Shabelle region Mohammed Ibrahim Barre gave further details about a military operation in Kuntuwarey, a main al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
base.

Barre confirmed that the Somali army with the support of foreign allies targeted al-Shabaab turbans in their hideouts. As many as 7 fighters, including leaders were killed.

The town of Kuntuwaarey, in the southwest of Somalia, is located 208 kilometers from the capital, Mogadishu. It has been for many years been under the full control of al-Shabaab.

At least four other turbans were maimed in the planned operation, which comes as the U.S. and AU forces in Somalia are stepping up their role in the current war on al-Shabaab.

Last month, a U.S. Arclight airstrike

Cuban doctors held hostage by Al-Shabaab killed in Somalia airstrike
[ShabelleMedia] A statement released on Telegram by Somalia-based al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
bandidos turbans claims two Cuban doctors who have been under their custody, were killed on Thursday in a dronezap within Jilib town, the turbans' stronghold in Middle Jubba.

Although the claims are yet to be clarified, the bandidos turbans took the two; Surgeon Landy Rodríguez and general medicine specialist Assel Herrera into captive in 2019, after ambushing them in Mandera, the northeastern town in Kenya.

Throughout this time, there have been concerted efforts to rescue the doctors, including behind-the-scenes meetings involving government officials in Somalia, clan elders, al-Shabaab, and the governments of Cuba and Kenya, which had struct a medical deal to have them in the East African nation.

Without giving further details, the bandidos turbans claimed the two died following an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in Middle Jubba, where the doctors have been undertaking 'community service'. Multiple sources had previously sighted the two in the al-Shabaab strongholds.

Garowe Online cannot authoritatively verify al-Shabaab claims but the airstrikes are usually conducted by US Africa Command upon requests by the government of Somalia. This week, the US reported an airstrike in Jubaland which left two bandidos turbans dead.

The government of Kenya signed a deal with Cuba in Havanna requiring the Caribbean nation to dispatch medics to Kenya. Although it is a communist state where freedoms of speech and media are quite limited, Cuba's healthcare systems are considered the best in the world.
That's what the Cubans claim, anyway. There are others who say otherwise.
The two were kidnapped while traveling to the hospital, with one of the security officers guarding them killed instantly by the turbans. A few years ago, a court in Kenya convicted the driver of the vehicle, placing him in the scene of the crime for allegedly colluding with the turbans.

Al-Shabaab abducts foreign nationals mainly to bargain for ransom and in most cases, they are subjected to community service as they wait for the offer.
What a happy term for unwilling slavery. Ugh.
The elders pleaded with al-Shabaab not to kill the doctors as all involved parties looked for an amicable solution.
Not with any urgency, clearly. And in the meantime free doctoring all around!
In 2020, al-Shabaab released Silvia Romano, an Italian who had been kidnapped by al-Shabaab, following intensive intelligence coordination involving sleuths from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and the National Intelligence Security Agency (NISA). Reports indicated she was pregnant with an al-Shabaab operative.

The search for the two doctors was intensified over the four years, with those involved almost getting closer to brokering a deal. The government of Cuba had announced a few years ago reaching a deal with Alshabab over the release of the two captives.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
efforts by the traditional elders did not yield fruits, although a consensus was reached to have the two alive as negotiations went on. They have been treating the bandidos turbans and locals, some sources had told Garowe Online.

Their alleged deaths could not be confirmed but there have been reports of aerial bombardments in Jubaland, particularly in the outskirts of Kismayo
...a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, at the extreme southern end of the country (always assuming Somalia can be called a country). It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region....
in Middle Jubba. The US has been coordinating such efforts but the most recent operation, only left 'two bandidos turbans dead and no civilian casualty.

Unknown persons tried to divert the El Al airliner from its route over Somalia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Unidentified people tried to intercept control of the communications system of the Israeli El Al airliner flying over Somalia. This was reported on February 18 by radio station Kan.

The El Al airline plane was flying from Phuket in Thailand to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. While flying in Somalia over an area believed to be under Houthi control,
...Houthis in Somalia?
the crew received instructions that were inconsistent with the route.

The pilots suspected that they were trying to divert the plane from its destination when they switched to alternative means of communication and checked information with other air traffic controllers.

Over the past week, the same thing has happened at least twice with other Israeli airlines flying to Thailand.

El Al said Somalia's aviation authorities had recently warned of communications disruptions, so pilots were using alternative means of communication.

As Regnum reported, on February 17, the military representative of the Yemeni Houthi movement Ansar Allah, Yahya Saria, said that a missile attack had been carried out on the British oil tanker Pollux in the Red Sea.
The Jerusalem Post adds:
Sources in Somalia told KAN that a group in the de-facto state Somaliland
...Republic of Somaliland is an unrecognised sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, recognised internationally as a de jure part of Somalia. It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. The government regards itself as the successor state to British Somaliland, which united from 1960 to 1991 with the Trust Territory of Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic. Under the Siad Barre regime, Somalia destroyed ninety percent of Hargeisa. Per international law, once you're in, you gotta stay in, no matter how bad it smells....
, which recently signed an agreement with Æthiopia, is responsible for the attempted attack.
To summarize: Houthis are infesting Somaliland along with Al Shabaab and ISIS. Interesting times, to be sure.
CREW NOTICED THE ATTACK AND THWARTED IT
During the incident, instructions were given to the crew that were different from their set route, raising concerns that someone was trying to damage the plane or lead it to dangerous areas, maybe even to conduct a kidnapping.

The crew disobeyed the instructions and quickly switched to alternative means of communication while also checking the data against other air traffic controllers and realizing that they were being misled.

EL AL: THE DISRUPTION DID NOT AFFECT THE NORMAL COURSE OF THE FLIGHT
A source in El Al told Walla that "in Somalia, there have been communication interruptions all week, not only for El Al planes,
Whew! That’s a comforting change...
and the official authorities have issued instructions to all pilots that as soon as this happens with a certain frequency, not to listen to the instructions and to switch to another communication method."

The source told Walla that the hostile elements contacted El Al pilots twice: Once on the flight between Phuket and Ben-Gurion and once on a flight to Bangkok.

"Our pilots are instructed on how to deal with this incident, such as the problematic frequency, and how to handle the flight professionally when it happens," explained the source.

A statement at El Al stressed that "the disturbances are not aimed at El Al planes and that this is not a security incident. The disruption did not affect the normal course of the flight thanks to the professionalism of the pilots who used the alternative means of communication and allowed the flight to continue on the planned route."

Yemeni military official killed in Cairo, Houthis blamed by gov't official
[JPost] Or Iranian agents?
An advisor to the Yemeni information minister blamed the Iran-backed Houthis for the general's death.

A senior official in charge of manufacturing for the internationally recognized Yemeni government's military was found dead in his apartment in Cairo, the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo said Sunday.

The official, identified as General Hassan bin Jalal Al-Obaidi, was found bound and stabbed in his apartment, according to reports by Yemeni media.
Was there a pretty girl involved? Or an even prettier boy?
The reports have not been confirmed by Egyptian or Yemeni authorities.

Obaidi was responsible in part for the development of the Jalal series of armored vehicles used by the Yemeni army, along with other products used by the Yemeni military.

The media attache at the Yemeni embassy told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that Obaidi had arrived in Cairo a week ago and that he was found killed in his apartment on Saturday night. Egyptian security services have opened an investigation into the incident, according to the reports.

ADVISOR TO YEMENI MINISTER BLAMES HOUTHIS FOR GENERAL'S DEATH
The incident comes as the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, opposed to the internationally recognized government in the country, continue their attacks against international maritime trade.

Ahmed Al-Mosibly, an advisor to the Yemeni information minister, blamed the Houthis for the general's death, saying, "They have tried more than once to assassinate him and failed because they are trembling in fear."

US-owned cargo ship hit in missile attack in Yemen - a day after Houthi rebels blasted British vessel in war-torn Red Sea
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A US-owned cargo ship has reported a missile strike off the coast of Yemen this morning.

No crew were injured in the strike, which came a day after a British cargo ship was forced to evacuate in a similar hit.

The security firm Ambrey reported the strike on Monday morning. It remains unclear who owns the vessel, that was 93 nautical miles east of Aden in Yemen at the time.

Ambrey described the vessel as a Greek-flagged, US-owned bulk carrier bound for Aden, Yemen, from Argentina. Those details, combined with ship-tracking data, identified the vessel as the Sea Champion. Its managers could not be immediately reached.

Both Ambrey and UKMTO (United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations) said the vessel and its crew - including five Greek members - were safe and proceeding to the next port of call.

The strike is the latest in a series of attacks against Western ships in the region where Iran-backed Houthi rebels continue to attack vessels in the Red Sea to protest the West's support of Israel in the war against Hamas in Gaza.

Ambrey: UK-registered cargo ship reported under attack in Bab al-Mandab Strait
[JPost] The ship was heading north during its journey from Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates to Varna, Bulgaria, when the attack occurred, Ambrey said in an advisory note.

British maritime security firm Ambrey said on Sunday that a Belize-flagged, UK-registered and Lebanese-operated open hatch general cargo ship reported being under attack in Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The ship was heading north during its journey from Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates to Varna, Bulgaria, when the attack occurred, Ambrey said in an advisory note.

"The partially laden vessel briefly slowed from ten to six knots and deviated course, and contacted the Djiboutian Navy, before returning to her previous course and speed," the note read.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said it has received a report of an incident 35 nautical miles south of Yemen's Al Mukha.
Update at 2:20 a.m. ET:
"The partially laden vessel briefly slowed from 10 to six knots and deviated course, and contacted the Djiboutian Navy, before returning to her previous course and speed," it said.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received a report of an incident 35 nautical miles south of Yemen's Al Mukha, and that an explosion in close proximity to a vessel had resulted in damage, the agency said in an advisory note. It did not identify the ship.

"Military authorities report crew have abandoned the vessel", UKMTO added in an updated advisory note early on Monday, adding that the vessel was at anchor and all crew were safe.
The Times of Israel adds:
Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce...
US forces in the Red Sea successfully conducted "five self-defense strikes" to foil attacks by land and sea from Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
-controlled areas of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, the American military said Sunday.

The strikes occurred between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday Sanaa time (1200 and 1700 GMT), the US Central Command said, and were part of a series of actions taken by the United States and its allies against the Houthis, aimed at halting the Iran-backed rebels’ repeated attacks on Red Sea shipping lanes.

The five strikes included targeting "the first observed Houthi employment of a UUV (unmanned underwater vessel) since attacks began" in October, according to a statement from CENTCOM.

Another of the five involved an unmanned surface vessel, or USV, essentially a floating drone. The use of such vessels has been comparatively rare.

The other three involved anti-ship cruise missiles, the statement said.

"CENTCOM identified the anti-ship cruise missiles, unmanned underwater vessel, and the unmanned surface vessel in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined they presented an imminent threat to US Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region," it said, adding it struck the five to "make international waters safer."

The Red Sea attacks have raised insurance premiums for shipping companies, forcing many to avoid the Red Sea, a vital route that normally carries about 12 percent of global maritime trade.

Police deployed outside a theater in London where a Jewish actress was performing in a new interpretation of a Shakespeare play due to antisemitic threats she received online.

Representatives for Tracy-Ann Oberman asked the Metropolitan Police to step in when "Merchant of Venice 1936" opened last week at the Criterion Theatre in the West End district, a friend of the actress told the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper.

12 arrested as thousands join pro-Palestinian march in London
[IsraelTimes] Participants assault coppers as they arrest man for holding antisemitic placard; others arrested for refusing to remove face coverings, supporting outlawed organization

Tens of thousands of pro-Paleostinian protesters marched in London on Saturday, with police making 12 arrests for alleged offenses including inciting racial hatred and assaulting emergency workers.

The demonstrators gathered at Park Lane in the center of the British capital holding banners demanding a "ceasefire now" while chanting "free Paleostine."

Pro-Paleostinian marches have become a regular feature on Saturdays in London ever since Israel mounted a military response to the Paleostinian terror group Hamas
...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
’s devastating attack on October 7 that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians.

"People are very, very concerned that there’s going to be a disaster piled upon an already existing disaster in Rafah," John Rees, from Stop the War Coalition, told AFP, referring to a looming Israeli ground offensive in the last remaining Hamas stronghold in the Strip.

"What I hope is that we can avert this tragedy being made permanent," he said.

London’s Metropolitan Police said 12 people were arrested, including two for displaying antisemitic placards.

"A man was seen in the crowd with an antisemitic placard. When officers went in to arrest him they were assaulted, resulting in six arrests," the force posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Two other people were arrested for refusing to remove face coverings when required to do so, while another person was arrested on suspicion of support for a proscribed organization in relation to a placard.

Mexican Soldiers Find RPGs, Shoulder-Fired Rockets After Shootout in Beach Resort Town
[Breitbart] Mexican authorities found a cache of RPGs, shoulder-fired rockets, and various other weapons after a shootout with cartel gunmen in the beach resort town of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

The case took place this week in Puerto Vallarta, a region known for its luxurious beach resorts, with many tourists arriving each year.

According to information provided to Breitbart Texas by Mexico’s National Guard, the incident took place in the rural areas of Puerto Vallarta when a group of guardsmen were patrolling an area known as El Ranchito. The guardsmen spotted two gunmen leaning next to a vehicle. When authorities approached them, the gunmen tried to flee but crashed into one of the military vehicles.

After the crash, the gunmen fired at authorities in an attempt to flee, but authorities fired back and surrounded them, forcing their surrender. One of the gunmen sustained a gunshot injury to his leg and had to be rushed to a local hospital.

When authorities searched the vehicle, national guardsmen reported seizing two rocket launching tubes, ten rockets, seven grenades, rifles, handguns, ammunition, and tactical gear.
...and a partridge in a pear tree.
The use of rocket launchers and explosives by cartel gunmen comes as Mexico continues to see a high level of violence as a result of policies known as "Hugs Not Bullets" pushed by Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. The Mexican president has called for a soft approach against cartel gunmen while pushing for an increase in social programs. Those policies led to a marked increase in cartel violence in areas throughout Mexico that had once been peaceful.
Unexpectedly.

Border officer seriously wounded in West Bank clash, wanted terror suspect killed
[IsraelTimes] EU foreign minister warns situation in West Bank about to boil over amid stepped-up Israeli raids to dismantle terror networks

A Border Police officer was seriously maimed on Sunday during festivities with Paleostinian button men in the West Bank city of Tulkarem this morning, during which a wanted terror suspect was killed.

Undercover Border Police officers had entered Tulkarem to detain Ahmad Awfi, 36, who the IDF, Shin Bet, and police say was wanted for his involvement in several shooting attacks at troops and Israeli settlements, as well as the execution of two Paleostinians accused of spying for Israel.

A joint statement said the officers and IDF troops encircled the building where Awfi was holed up, and applied a tactic known as "pressure cooker" that involves escalating the volume of fire directed at a building to force suspects to come out.

A shootout ensued and Awfi was killed and his weapon was seized, the statement said. The IDF said troops shot up other Paleostinian button men who were shooting and hurling bombs at them.

The Israeli military said the Border Police officer sustained serious injuries in the clash and has been hospitalized.

The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry confirmed Awfi’s death as well as that of a second man, 19-year old Nabil Atta Muhammad Amer, apparently involved in the festivities with troops.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
’s Fatah party, identified Awfi as a local commander. His brother also called him "a member of the resistance."

The Israeli military has stepped up its near daily raids across the West Bank in the aftermath of Hamas’s October 7 attack, in operations aimed at dismantling Paleostinian terror groups such as Hamas.

In a separate raid on the outskirts of Ramallah on Sunday, the IDF said troops detained a senior Hamas operative.

Since October 7, Israeli troops have arrested more than 3,100 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,350 affiliated with Hamas, according to security authorities.

The Paleostinian Authority health ministry says that more than 300 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time.

Based on military estimates, the vast majority of those killed since October 7 were shot during festivities amid arrest raids, and many of them, according to data seen by The Times of Israel, were armed with either a firearm or an bomb.

The IDF is aware of at least three cases of uninvolved Paleostinians being killed by troops in recent months, and a handful of cases of settlers killing Paleostinians, which are still under investigation.

Separately, the military also said Sunday that troops had shot a suspect outside the city of Nablus who approached soldiers after getting out of a vehicle.

"Despite the soldiers calling out to the suspect and receiving no response, the suspect persisted in advancing towards them, prompting the soldiers to take action and neutralize him," a statement read.

Fatah said the man, a security officer, was "assassinated in cold blood" at the Beit Furik checkpoint outside Nablus, which is some 35 kilometres (22 miles) east of Tulkarm.

In a speech on Sunday, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell described the situation in the West Bank as being at boiling point and warned that "we could be on the eve of a greater explosion."

"The West Bank is the real obstacle for the two-state solution," Borrell said at the Munich Security Conference.

Settlers said to throw stones, torch car, leave racist graffiti in West Bank attacks
[IsraelTimes] After separate incidents in towns of al-Mufaqara and Turmus Ayya, Paleostinians post photos of vandalism reading ’Dire Revenge, death to Arabs’; medics treating casualties.

Settlers allegedly attacked Paleostinians in two towns in the West Bank on Saturday, throwing stones at children in al-Mufaqara and setting fire to a vehicle and leaving racist graffiti in Turmus Ayya.

There was no immediate response on Sunday morning from the Israel Defense Forces to the reported incidents.

In one alleged attack, on Saturday afternoon, official Paleostinian news outlet Wafa reported that a group of armed settlers targeted shepherds in al-Mufaqara in the South Hebron Hills, "physically assaulting them and beating them up."

The report said one child was injured when he was hit in the foot by a stone thrown by one of the assailants, while another suffered bruises after being physically assaulted.

An eyewitness report on X, formerly Twitter, said that two settlers threw stones at two children who were grazing sheep in al-Mufaqara, while a group of settlers — including gunnies or security forces — watched the incident from a nearby hill and did not intervene.

Footage shared on the same post showed Paleostinian Red Thingy medics treating casualties at the scene and transferring them to an ambulance, though none of them appeared to be children.

Wafa reported that several sheep were also injured in the incident.

In Turmus Ayya north of Ramallah, meanwhile, pictures and video posted on X showed a car with Israeli license plates smoldering with firefighters nearby, and a wall with "Dire Revenge, death to Arabs" daubed in black paint with a Jewish star.

Wafa reported that the overnight attack targeted a "civilian home" and the attackers came from a nearby Israeli settlement. No injuries were reported.

Also Saturday, Wafa reported that residents of the northern West Bank settlement Yitzhar, accompanied by a security guard, attacked three Paleostinian men outside Asira al-Qibliya.

The settlers reportedly set up a roadblock near the West Bank village, forced the three Paleostinian men out of their vehicle when they drove by, and threatened them with violence.

The reports came as Israel faces increasing international pressure to crack down on settler violence, with both the United States and the United Kingdom recently slapping sanctions on holy warrior settlers alleged to have carried out attacks on Paleostinians.

Maariv poll: 71% of Israelis in favor of operation against Lebanon
[NAHARNET] A poll published by right-wing Israeli newspaper Maariv has showed that 71% of Israelis believe that Israel should launch a large-scale military operation against Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
Furthermore, 12 percent of Israelis think that the current situation on the border between Lebanon and Israel should be contained, while 17 percent of respondents said they had no opinion on the matter, Maariv reported.

war broke out on October 7.

Wednesday was the bloodiest day in more than four months of cross-border exchanges, with 10 civilians and five Hezbollah members including a commander killed.

Hezbollah said it retaliated on Thursday by firing dozens of rockets into the settlement of Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel.

The Israeli army said it carried out Wednesday's strikes after rocket fire from Lebanon killed a soldier and maimed seven others at the Israeli army’s northern headquarters in Safad.

The cross-border exchanges have killed at least 268 people on the Lebanese side, most of them Hezbollah fighters but also 40 civilians, according to an AFP tally.

On the Israeli side, 10 soldiers and six civilians have been killed, according to the Israeli army.

The fighting has also displaced tens of thousands of residents on both sides of the border and Israel has repeatedly warned that it might use force against Hezbollah to secure its residents' return amid ongoing indirect negotiations over a political solution.

Israeli forces raided the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on Thursday as they pressed their war on Gaza enclave.

"Occupation forces detained a large number of medical staff members inside Nasser Medical Complex, which they (Israel) turned into a military base," said Gaza Health Ministry front man Ashraf al-Qidra.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday pledged to push on with the military campaign and said troops would move into the southern border city of Rafah.

The Israeli military said it was hunting for snuffies in Nasser and had so far arrested 100 suspects on the premises, killed button men near the hospital and found weapons inside it.

Hamas

has denied allegations that its fighters use medical facilities for cover. The Israeli incursion into the hospital has raised alarm about patients, medical workers and displaced Paleostinians sheltering there.

About 10,000 people were seeking shelter at the hospital earlier this week, but many left either in anticipation of the Israeli raid or because of Israeli orders to evacuate, the Gaza Health Ministry said.

Further south in Rafah, where more than half of Gaza's 2.3 million population are sheltering, the winter cold added to already dire conditions when wind blew away some tents of the displaced and rain flooded others.

Israel has been focusing its campaign in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, where the military said troops engaged in battles backed by tanks and air support.

"Over the past day, dozens of forces of Evil were eliminated and large quantities of weapons were seized," the military said.

Israeli special forces were still operating in and around the Nasser hospital, it said.

The latest blow to Gaza's destroyed healthcare sector came as Israel prepared for an assault of the southernmost city Rafah, home now to more than a million mostly displaced Paleostinians - a move that the international community, including Israel's backer the United States, has warned would create enormous human suffering.

Israel's air and ground offensive has devastated much of Gaza and forced nearly all of its inhabitants from their homes. Paleostinian health authorities say 28,985 people, mostly civilians, have been killed.

Hamas' Al-Aqsa Brigades targets Israeli forces in Northern Gaza
[GEO.TV] The Palestinian armed group, Al-Aqsa Brigades, claims to have struck an assembly of Israeli soldiers and vehicles in the northern Gaza Strip's "eastern front" with a rocket, Al Jazeera reported.

Additionally, the group stated via its Telegram channel that it aimed mortar shells at an Israeli soldier group near Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

Hamas scrambles to replace flailing, radio-silent Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar, Israel says
[NY Post] Hamas is looking to replace Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar after a string of defeats for the Palestinian terror group in Khan Younis and ongoing radio silence from the elusive terrorist leader, Israel claims.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said in a report Sunday it has become evident that Hamas’ leadership abroad has lost confidence that the suspected Oct. 7 mastermind and other current terror officials in Gaza can stave off the Israel Defense Force’s advancements after its battalions in Khan Younis were taken out.

"Hamas does not trust its commanders, this is a very, very noticeable thing," Gallant said after a meeting with the IDF’s southern command, according to the Times of Israel. "The Hamas-Gaza station does not answer, there is no one to talk to as leadership on the ground.

"That means there is a tender for who will manage Gaza," Gallant suggested.

Sinwar, the man believed to have been the mastermind behind the Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel that launched the war, has allegedly been out of contact with the terror group for weeks, according to Israeli Channel 12.

It is unclear if the terror group cannot reach Sinwar because he’s on the run or because of the rolling communication blackouts across Gaza.

Israel's government unanimously voted to reject any and all attempts by foreign powers to create a Palestinian state once the war against Hamas ends, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

Hamas has not commented on Sinwar’s whereabouts or the allegations made by Gallant.

The IDF has repeatedly vowed to hunt down the terrorist leader, who has eluded the Israeli military since its ground assault into the Palestinian enclave began.
