Somalia's semi-autonomous deputy Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdullahi Hashi, told journalists that Puntland authorities were repatriating the fresh refugees fleeing from Yemen

Mr. Hashi added that all refugees including men, women and kiddies were welcomed warmly by local businessmen based in the town of Bossaso in northeastern Bari region of Somalia.

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...

Security Contractor, DIA Docs Debunk Michael Morell's Benghazi Narrative
Cherry picked excerpt:
[Breitbart] Kris 'Tonto' Paronto argued that Morell is not qualified to authoritatively speak about the Benghazi attack because he was not present on the ground during the 13-hour ordeal.

In fact, Morell "chose to not listen to those of us on the ground fighting who provided constant real time information to our CIA leadership, deciding in turn to rely on his intel analysts (which he spent the majority of his CIA career as), who were gathering 2nd and 3rd hand information surfing the web," said Paronto.
Yes, contract operators are icky. I'd rather read traffic 9-5, help shape WH talking points with Susan Rice, and work on my 'job after' with Beacon Global Strategies.
"Morell has attempted to bring his misrepresented uninformed opinion into the Benghazi cover up debacle which began publicly by the current administration and the U.S. State Department," he added.
Posted by: Besoeker || 05/21/2015 03:43 || Comments || Link || [4 views] Top|| File under:

#1  Paronto told Breitbart News that Morell “omitted” the fact that the US. Consulate in Benghazi was under surveillance the day of the attack, indicating that they were preparing for the worst..

A fact that was covered in the Burg in the days after the attack.

The DIA report accuses a little-known Muslim Brotherhood-linked group “Brigades of the Captive Omar Abdul Rahman” (BCOAR) of executing the attack... A “member of the Muslim Brotherhood movement… where they have large caches of weapons” approved setting up the group’s headquarters in Libya, it adds.

Which may tie into the "Mursi [Morsi] sent us" remark heard during the early part of the attack.

Mixed reactions on Egypt's new justice minister El-Zend
[Al Ahram] Days after Egypt's former justice minister was removed because of classist comments, a new official was appointed only to create further controversy.

On Wednesday, the head of Egypt's Judges Club, Ahmed El-Zend, was appointed to replace Mafhouz Saber, who resigned after making remarks deemed provocative about the social status of potential judges.

"A judge should come from a social class suited to the job, with all due respect to garbage collectors," he said during a television interview, as if to hint the son of a garbage collector shouldn't ever be appointed a judge.

A day later Saber submitted his resignation amid a wave of public outrage.

Minister of Transitional Justice Ibrahim El-Heneidy then took charge of the ministry until El-Zend's appointment Wednesday.

But hours after the news of the cabinet reshuffle, criticism of El-Zend's appointment had already surfaced.

El-Zend, who won two consecutive rounds of elections to head the unofficial but powerful Judges Club since 2009, has been associated with contentious stances and comments himself.

In March 2012, he was quoted as saying that "Whoever asks for cleansing the judiciary should go cleanse himself."

During an event at the Judges Club, El-Zend tackled an issue at the time when workers in courts held a strike to object to the employment of the sons of judges in place of other more qualified candidates, shutting down some courtrooms with chains.

"Those who criticise the sons of judges are haters whose appointment was rejected," El-Zend was quoted as saying. "The hiring of sons of judges will continue year after year and no power in Egypt will stop this holy crawl."

In January 2014, he said that judges "are masters on this land (Egypt) and everyone else are slaves," during a phone interview with the private television channel El-Faraeen.

During the Moslem Brüderbund's one year of power, El-Zend was at the forefront of the conflict between the Islamists' rule and judges.

The series of conflicts included a clash over proposed changes to the judicial powers law, which suggested reducing the age of retirement from 70 to 60, effectively forcing a quarter of Egypt's 13,000 serving judges into early retirement.

Nigeria Learning From Captured Boko Haram
[VOA News] Nigeria's military is gathering intelligence from captured Islamist Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
bully boyz as well as captives held by the Lion of Islams.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, front man for the army, told VOA Wednesday, "I can confirm to you that we have been gathering very useful and credible information from those locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
, the Boko Haram forces of Evil as well as those who were rescued from the clutches of the Boko Haram terrorists."

He declined to give details of the intelligence the army has so far gathered due to security reasons.

"We are making tremendous progress in the fight against the insurgency," said Usman. "We have destroyed most of their known camps. We are now in the Sambisa forest, and we are making all efforts to make sure that [the] Sambisa Forest would be rid of Boko Haram terrorists."

The army, Usman said, is combing the Sambisa Forest - a former stronghold of the Lion of Islams, to destroy all their camps as a joint regional military offensive continues.

Chadian Help

Usman's comments came after politicians in neighboring Chad extended the mandate of the country's military in the fight against the Lion of Islams.

Usman said extension of the Chadian military mandate will help with regional efforts to defeat the Boko Haram Lion of Islams.

"It is going to be of great help to the Nigerian military and of course the fight against insurgency," said Usman. "Remember we have not had the desired cooperation from the beginning of this war against terrorism. But, now we are having it, we want to get more stronger and with the renewal of the mandate, I think it's quite good and it is a welcome development."

Chibok Girls

Borno State governor, Kassim Shettima has called for the military to expedite action to rescue the kidnapped Chibok school girls.

Local media quoted Shettima as saying "We are suspecting that Chibok girls are living with the bully boyz in bunkers. I think the military must carry out their operations beyond the surface earth."

"I believe the governor means well, and we welcome suggestions and credible and timely information from well-meaning Nigerians," said Usman. "Anytime we get information of that nature, we make sure that we give it the desired attention or the priority it deserves.

"I can assure you that the military has already been operating in Sambisa Forest and as of now, they are still battling to make sure that they destroy all the camps of Boko Haram forces of Evil in Sambisa Forest," he added.

Usman says the army welcomes Shettima's call. He also said the army is following all leads to rescue citizens kidnapped by the Boko Haram Lion of Islams.

"So, it's not just about the Chibok kidnapped school girls, it's about the fight against terrorism and all other kidnapped people by this terrorist group. And if in the process we are able to rescue them as well, then fine and good. So, we are not ruling out all possibilities. The whole essence of the operation is to make sure that we are able to destroy the camps and rescue all kidnapped people by the Boko Haram," Usman added.

Arabia
Iran Says Yemen Aid Ship to Be Inspected in Djibouti
[AnNahar] Iran said on Wednesday its aid ship bound for war-torn Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
is to dock in Djibouti for inspection, heading off a potential confrontation with the United States.

The aid "will be inspected in Djibouti. The ship will dock in Djibouti and the protocol laid down by the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
will be implemented," Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, quoted by the ISNA news agency.

Iran had said the ship was expected to reach the Yemeni port of Hodeida on Thursday without stopping in Djibouti, in defiance of warnings from Washington and a Saudi-led coalition conducting air strikes on Shiite Houthis in Yemen.

The vessel, renamed Nejat (Rescue), is carrying 2,500 tonnes of aid including flour, rice, canned food, medical supplies and bottled water, all urgently needed in the conflict-wracked and impoverished state.

Its passengers include doctors, anti-war activists from the United States, La Belle France and Germany, and journalists, according to Tasnim, a news agency associated with Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards.

But the ship's mission had been overshadowed by U.S. calls for it to head to the U.N. emergency relief hub in Djibouti instead of docking directly in Hodeida.

The Pentagon said the U.S. Navy was tracking the ship, angering Tehran which insisted it had U.N. approval for the humanitarian mission and warned against any attempt to inspect its cargo.

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, meanwhile, accuses Tehran of arming the Huthis, a charge repeatedly denied by Iran which supports the rebels.

In another sign of easing tensions over the humanitarian efforts, U.N. aid chief Valerie Amos met Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Wednesday to discuss speeding up relief to Yemen.

And Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the U.N. envoy for Yemen, is also expected to arrive in the Iranian capital on Wednesday night.

#2  The theory is that this ship does have just humanitarian aid, and intended to make later arms shipments easier to get through.

I doubt they will alow more than a cursoury inspection in Djibouti.

The Houthi leader stressed that the popular committees and the Yemeni army will keep fighting the Death Eaters courageously despite the Saudi intensive air raids.

"Who is betting on the Saudi aggression will lose," Sayyed Houthi said.

The Yemenis are sacrificing all what they possess to face the brutal aggression which employed internationally prohibited weapons, according to Sayyed Houthi.

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-US coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
A Georgian region is fertile ground for Islamic State
[RUDAW.NET] In the summer of 2012, a former Georgian Army corporal who had served prison time for illegal possession of ammunition burned his photo albums and quit his native village.

Tarkhan Batirashvili had wanted to become a policeman, but couldn't get hired. Now, this offspring of a Christian father and a Moslem mother was about to start a new chapter in his military career -- one in which he would be credited with some of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
's most stunning battlefield victories and rise to senior rank.

Last September, the US Treasury Department placed Batirashvili -- who now calls himself Omar al Shishani and is believed by some to be Islamic State's chief of military operations -- on its list of "specially designated global terrorists." But to some in the Pankisi, the mountainous region of northeastern Georgia where he was born in 1986, the ginger-bearded commander is a hero and a role model.

To follow the path he blazed, as many as 200 of his young countrymen have left their villages.

Batirashvili's father Temur is aghast.

"It's monstrous what's going on in the valley, that they are deceiving these kids and they're leaving to fight in a foreign land," the 72-year-old man told visitors to his one-story stone house in the hamlet of Birkiani. "My son should not be in Syria."

The Pankisi is home to an estimated 5,000-7,000 descendants of Moslem Chechens who settled here in the 19th century. In the village of Omalo, locals say, a green-tile roofed building is used by preachers from the Wahhabi branch of Sunni Islam to enlist volunteers for jihad.

Residents say the recruiters promise money and provide ground transportation to Tbilisi airport more than 120 miles (200 km) away, as well as prepaid plane tickets to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
"They are selling our children," said Shariat Tsintsalashvili. "They earn dollars from it, drive around in expensive four-wheel drive vehicles. It's a total mafia."

On April 2, her 16-year-old grandson Moslem Kushtanashvili and schoolmate Ramzan Bagakashvili, 18, joined the valley's recruits to Islamic State. That Thursday, the teens left as usual for their school in Omalo, next door to the building used by the Wahhabis. They never came home.

Moslem called friends later to say he was in Turkey. Then word came back the 10th grader had crossed into Syria.

A legal minor, Moslem also had no passport, so his family can't understand why Georgian border guards let him fly out of the country. Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri has vowed an investigation and punishment for those responsible, but Moslem's family suspect authorities are protecting the recruiters.

Bagakashvili's mother agrees.

"Here they are stirring up things, recruiting youths," Tina Alkhanashvili said. "You can't get authorities to watch them."

Within weeks, Georgian officials reported three more boys from the valley had disappeared.

North Korea 'photoshopped' Kim Jong-un sub missile pictures
[SMH.AU] Photographs showing Kim Pudge Jong-un

proudly watching as a North Korean missile was launched from an underwater submarine were manipulated by state propagandists, experts claimed on Tuesday.

German aerospace experts said photos of the launch were "strongly modified", including reflections of the missile exhaust flame in the water which did not line up with the missile itself.

"Considering the track record of North Korean deceptions, it seems sensible to assume that any North Korean SLBM [submarine-launched ballistic missile] capability is still a very long time in the future, if it will ever surface," Markus Schiller and Robert Schmucker, of Schmucker Technologie, told Rooters.

A photo on state TV showed a missile high in the sky leaving a trail of white smoke, whereas other photos from state media showed no white smoke, suggesting the two photos were of different missiles with different propulsion systems, Mr Schiller and Mr Schmucker said.

Europe
European Nations Synchronize Laws on Islamist 'Foreign Fighters'
[AnNahar] Ministers from 47 European nations agreed for the first time Tuesday to harmonize their laws to stop so-called imported muscle travelling to Iraq and Syria to join jihadist groups.

The agreement by the Council of Europe, a pan-European rights group which includes the EU but also takes in countries such as Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, will make cross-border tracking and prosecutions easier.

Under the agreement signed by foreign ministers, countries must criminalize acts such as "participating in an association or group for the purpose of terrorism", "receiving training for terrorism" and "travelling abroad for the purpose of terrorism".

They also agreed to set up a round-the-clock information sharing network on relevant suspects.

"The police of the different member states will be able to make contact with the police in other countries when they arrest on their borders people who are suspected of being imported muscle," CoE Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland told a news conference.

Member states still have to ratify the deal individually following Tuesday's meeting in Brussels of the group, which was set up shortly after World War II.

A lack of agreement between countries over how legally to define suspects had been a major obstacle to the creation of an EU database of "imported muscle" from European nations.

The Grand Turk
EU Rapporteur concerned over freedoms in Turkey
[AA.TR] The European parliament's rapporteur for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
Kati Piri expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
over certain developments in Turkey before the voting of a draft resolution assessing Ankara's 2014 reforms Wednesday.

Rapporteur Kati Piri, who spoke at a presser in Strasbourg, said she was concerned with the "independence of judiciary, freedom of expression and the freedom of press" in Turkey.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and Turkey are important strategic partners, added Piri, adding that the EU's relations with Turkey were based on dialogue at the highest level and "shutting the door is not what this parliament wants."

She stated however that the European parliament appreciated the Turkish government's efforts with regards to what is known as the "solution process", an initiative started in 2013 and aimed at ending the decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people in almost 40 years. Piri said the European parliament encouraged both sides to continue towards sustainable peace.

She added that the European parliament also "praised all the efforts made by the Turkish government for hosting more refugees than any other country in the world today", as the EU itself was discussing on how adequate protection could be given to refugees.

There are currently around 2 million refugees (around 1.7 million from Syria and 200,000 from Iraq), according to speaker of the Turkish parliament, Cemil Cicek's speech last week.

Months before U.S. raid, bin Laden considered leaving Pakistan compound
[WASHINGTONPOST] Months before he was finally found by the CIA and killed, the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest...
wrote that it might be time for him to move.

In a letter voicing deep frustration with the isolation at his compound in Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
, Pakistain, the al-Qaeda leader contemplated a departure that might have altered the course of post-Sept. 11, 2001, history.

"I think that I have to leave them," bin Laden wrote, referring to the two Pak brothers who sheltered him and served as his primary connections to the outside world. "But it will take a few months to arrange another place," bin Laden said, a location where his third wife, Khairiyah, his son Hamza and other family members "can join us."

Less than six months later, in May 2011, Navy SEALs descended on the compound, killing bin Laden and his Pak caretakers. Khairiyah, whom he had addressed in the letter and who ultimately joined him in Abbottabad, was captured and turned over to Pak authorities.

Safoora attack evidence points to religious extremists: police. Really.
[DAWN] As police on Tuesday disclosed the arrest of four militants, including the mastermind of the Safoora Goth carnage, evidence emerged that religious extremists rather than India’s premier intelligence agency were responsible for one of the worst sectarian attacks in the recent history of Karachi.

“Police’s Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested four militants, including the mastermind identified as Tahir, for their involvement in the killing of 45 members of the Shia Ismaili community last week,” said Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi, Ghulam Qadir Thebo.

Mr Thebo, who also heads the investigation team, told Dawn that the four arrested suspects had informed police that a total of 11 armed men had attacked the bus carrying the Ismailis last Wednesday morning near Safoora Goth and the group was also involved in the killing of human rights activist Sabeen Mahmud and a number of policemen in the city, attacks on members of the Bohra community and an American academic.

The city police chief believed that all the 11 attackers were associated with a militant group ‘inspired by Al Qaeda’ and belonged to different ethnic backgrounds. Four of them hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and an equal number from Punjab.

“The other three were Urdu-speaking,” disclosed the Karachi police chief, citing findings of the initial investigation.

Mr Thebo said the main reason behind the brazen attack on the Shia Ismaili community was religious extremism. The members of the Bohra community were also targeted for the same reason.

He, however, said that Sabeen Mahmud, human rights activist and director of the social forum, The Second Floor, was targeted for being a ‘pro-American and liberal woman’. Mr Thebo claimed that Ms Mahmud was not targeted for holding a seminar on the Balochistan issue.

Similarly, the academic, Dr Debra Lobo, was attacked for being ‘American.’

The group was also allegedly involved in the killing of policemen in Karachi’s Aram Bagh and Preedy areas recently. The policemen were targeted for their pro-active role in the targeted operation against militants in the metropolis, said the head of the investigation team.

“Barring the murders of DSPs Fatah Sangri and Zulfiqar Zaidi and SP Prison Aijaz Haider, this militant group has confessed to involvement in terror acts since December last year in the city,” he said.

Mr Thebo believed that as the targeted operation smashed the network of militants in the city through their killings in ‘encounters’ and arrests, they ‘regrouped’ and became ‘active’ over the past five to six months. “This is a new group, which is inspired by Al Qaeda,” he said.

In reply to a question, the police official said the investigators had received a forensic report about spent bullets used in the armed attack on the bus carrying Ismailis.

He revealed that one 0.9mm pistol used in the attack also matched with an attack on a Rangers official about five months ago in New Town area of Karachi. The officer, however, survived, but his friend was killed in the attack.

The second round of the anti-polio drive would be launched from May 25 in the city.

Prayer leader jailed for five years over hate speech
[DAWN] An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Tuesday a prayer leader of Kasur to five years in jail for delivering a hate speech at a public gathering.

A case under Section 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act had been registered against Qari Abubakar at Kot Radha Kishan cop shoppe on a complaint lodged by a sub-inspector.

According to the prosecution, the prayer leader was inciting people against a particular religious sect and he was nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
on the spot.

The prosecution also produced before the court the video recording of the speech.

The accused denied the charge and took the plea that he did not attend the gathering. The defence counsel accused police of implicating his client in a fabricated case and requested the court to acquit him.
"That is not me in that video! I wudn't even dere! I got five udder holy men fer witnesses!"
After going through the case, Judge Haroon Latif sentenced the holy man to five-year term. According to an official, 21 people have been convicted this year of delivering hate speeches. Some of them had been tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
for up to eight years. Two of them are from Lahore.
An Nahar names the particular religious sect:
Maulana Abubakar a prayer leader was locked away
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
in February in Kasur district, Punjab, some 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Lahore, for making a speech against the rival minority Shiite sect, a prosecutor told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"The judge of an anti-terrorism court on Tuesday sentenced the Imam to serve five years in prison for [giving a] hate speech," the prosecutor said on condition of anonymity.

"The Imam was found guilty of inciting hatred against Shiite [people] and raised slogans during his sermon that Shiites were infidels," he said.

The official said that under Pakistain's National Action Plan against terrorism, authorities have incarcerated
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
many prayer leaders and courts have sent them to prison over hate speech charges.

The official said he could not give the number of convictions as data was still being compiled about the cases.
Based on these articles, we know there's been twenty-two thus far this year.

Iran Rules out Nuclear Inspections of Military Sites
[AnNahar] Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday ruled out allowing nuclear inspectors to visit military sites or to question scientists if Tehran strikes a long-sought deal with world powers.

"We have already said that we will not allow any inspections of military sites by foreigners," the official IRNA news agency quoted him as saying.

"They also say that we must allow interviews with nuclear scientists. This is interrogation. I will not allow foreigners to come and talk to scientists who have advanced the science to this level," Khamenei said.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for military cadets, he said that no "intelligent government" would allow such a thing and "excessive demands" must be resisted.

Khamenei, who has the final word on all policy matters in Iran, said Tehran would refuse to allow "the insolent enemy" to talk to its scientists, adding that other countries hide the identities of their nuclear experts.

Several Iranian atomic scientists were assassinated between 2010 and 2012 in attacks Tehran blamed on Israel and the U.S.

The United States as well as Britannia, China, La Belle France, Russia and Germany are in the midst of negotiations with Tehran to finalize a deal by June 30 that would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, in exchange for an easing of crippling economic sanctions.

For several weeks, political and technical experts have been trying to finalize the terms of a final agreement. They were due to gather again on Wednesday in Vienna for talks.

If fully implemented, a deal would see Iran dramatically scale back its nuclear activities and submit those that remain to what U.S. President Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
has described as the "most robust and intrusive inspections and transparency regime ever negotiated".

The issue of inspections is a sticking point in the negotiations.

In late April, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran was ready to accept the "highest level of international transparency" available to members of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

But Zarif said this week that the NPT additional protocol did not grant inspectors access without limits or reason.

He said that the rules allowed "some access" but not inspections of military sites, in order to protect national "military or economic secrets".

The additional protocol provides for snap inspections of nuclear facilities by the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and requires that information be provided on all activities regarding the nuclear fuel cycle.

Iran is a signatory of the NPT and voluntarily implemented the additional protocol between 2003 and 2006, but ceased applying it after its nuclear program was referred to the U.N. Security Council.

Obama Eyes Sped Up Training, Weapons for Iraqi Tribes after Ramadi Rout
That'll do it. Who wants a beer before we hit the links?
[AnNahar] U.S. President Barack Obama
If you have a small business, you didn't build that...
weighed faster training and arms supplies for Iraqi tribes Tuesday, while eying a rapid counteroffensive to retake Ramadi from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

"We are looking at how best to support local ground forces in Anbar" province, National Security Council front man Alistair Baskey told Agence La Belle France Presse, "including accelerating the training and equipping of local tribes and supporting an Iraqi-led operation to retake Ramadi."

Ramadi -- a city in Iraq's Sunni heartland just 90 minutes' drive away from the capital Baghdad -- was overrun by jihadists on Sunday.

The audacious military victory was a major blow in the battle against the IS group, calling into question Obama's strategy in Iraq and the authority of his ally, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

The White House has described the loss of Ramadi as a "setback" but played down suggestions that the war is being lost.

"Are we going to light our hair on fire every time that there is a setback in the campaign?" asked White House front man Josh Earnest.

Obama huddled with his secretaries of State, Defense as well as National Security Advisor Susan Rice and Central Intelligence Agency chief John Brennan to plot the way forward.

- 'No formal strategy review' -
"There is no formal strategy review," said Baskey, indicating that the pace rather than type of assistance to Sunni tribes was in question.

A more detailed announcement could come within days.

Obama has repeatedly ruled out sending vast numbers of U.S. troops back to the theater of a bloody and unpopular nine-year war that he vowed to end.

Instead, he has vowed to support Iraq's struggling army and hit IS from the air.

There has also been support for disparate Iraqi paramilitary groups that have proven a more potent fighting force than army or police regulars, though not without controversy.

Both Washington and Baghdad had been uneasy about arms flowing directly to Kurdish peshmerga fighters in the north, fearing those arms could later be used in the battle for independence.

Meanwhile,
...back at the secret hideout, Scarface Al sneeringly put his proposition to little Nell...
many of the Shiite groups that helped retake Tikrit are armed and trained by Iran and their role in campaigns in overwhelmingly Sunni Anbar could risk reigniting a sectarian bloodbath.

The White House wants to see those groups firmly under the command and control of the Iraqi military, but is also turning to Sunni tribes, which helped turn the tide of America's own war in Iraq through the "Sunni Awakening."

But reeling from the worst setback since IS grabbed swathes of territory in June last year, Abadi called in the Shiite-dominated Popular Mobilization units (Hashed al-Shaabi).

Iraq's army and allied paramilitary forces massed around Ramadi, meanwhile, looking for swift action to recapture the city from IS before it builds up defenses.

"The Iraqi government needs to launch an immediate counteroffensive before (IS) can consolidate its power, both for symbolic reasons and because of Ramadi's proximity to Baghdad," said Michael Knights of the Washington Institute.

These guys just received a city full of bullets and beans. Furthermore, the flat execution of prisoners and that they seem to bring along pre-made IEDs and mines to immediately setup a defense. Also, the propaganda recruiting moral boost to tie in with gains in Syria.

Combine that with a blow to whatever moral the whatever Iraqi government there is with soldiers and refugees streaming out of Ramadi.

And its not Earnest's hair, its his pants, and everybody knows it, which only accomplishes a vote of present.

Anbar refugees fleeing ISIS suspicious of Shiite forces
[RUDAW.NET] A group of Anbar province refugees who reached Shaqlawa in the Kurdistan region have told Rudaw they are suspicious of the central government and its use of Shiite militias in any future attempt to liberate Anbar from ISIS.

"Iraqi forces fled Anbar, SWAT forces fled, the Golden Force fled, where are the Anbar police commanders? Three days before ISIS entered Ramadi they evacuated Ramadi," one refugee told Rudaw.

"In fact, the situation is very bad, we call on the Iraqi government to liberate Ramadi from the ISIS krazed killers. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
I do not think they can do it," said another.

According to information obtained by Rudaw, more than 5,000 pro-Baghdad Hashd al-Shaabi Shiite Lions of Islam have been stationed in the Habbaniyah area east of Ramadi to gear up to drive ISIS Lions of Islam out. The majority Sunni Ramadi was seized by Islamic State

Lions of Islam on May 15. The capital of Anbar, the largest province in Iraq, Ramadi's capture by ISIS has been viewed as a major symbolic and strategic victory for the jihadis.

Though many Anbar Sunnis oppose ISIS, they are also hostile towards Shiite forces. A potential push by the central government with these Shiite forces into Al-Anbar has some locals criticizing the government forces just as much as ISIS.

"In order not to arm the Anbar tribal forces and arm Hashd al-Shaabi, the Iraqi government wanted to impose Hashd al-Shaabi on us, and now we are paying the price of the fall of Ramadi," Anbar tribal leader Sheikh Abdulrezaq Shemari told Rudaw. "We never wanted Hashd al-Shaabi to enter our areas because we were already familiar with their war crimes against civilians."

"Their name is not Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) but Hashd al-Shiite (Shiite mobilization forces)," he added.

, has threatened the Islamic State in kind.

"If you touch our sacred shrines and cities, we will make Iraq full of your grimy bodies," Sadr said in a statement.

"Those who claim they would attack our cities, they must expect a very tough battle," he added.

Sadr called on Iraqi forces to take his statements seriously and to protect Shiite holy places from ISIS bad boys. Al-Sadr's Mahdi Army often battled with US forces between 2003 and 2011.

Hashd al-Shaabi Shiite forces of Evil have formed a force of an estimated 1,500 in Karbala and Najaf to protect the cities from ISIS.

On May 15 ISIS seized control of Ramadi, sending Iraqi forces racing out of the city in a major loss despite the support of US-led Arclight airstrikes targeting the myrmidons.

Fearing naval attack, Israel bars scuba suit shipment to Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Security officials suspect equipment seized at Nitzana border crossing was to be used by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, commandos in sea-based attack, in repeat of 2014 attempt

Israeli authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle scuba diving suits into the Gazoo Strip this month, which they say could have been used for a sea-based attack on Israel.

Customs employees at the Nitzana border crossing in the country's south along with Shin Bet security service agents found the scuba suits in a shipment going to Gazoo via Israel, the Customs Authority said Monday.

While the import documents stated that the shipment to the Strip was supposed to contain a large number of sports suits, a thorough examination by workers at Nitzana revealed that 40 diving suits had been included in the transport as well, a commodity which requires special permits.

The Shin Bet suspected that the attempted smuggling of diving suits to the Strip was initiated by the Hamas terrorist group in order to build up the organization's naval forces, which include commandos tasked with carrying out attacks against Israeli targets across the border.

On July 8, 2014, during last summer's 50-day war between Israel and and the Gazoo-based terrorist organization, four Hamas divers were killed in an aborted infiltration attempt a kilometer north of the border, near Kibbutz Zikim.

A leaked video of the attempted attack revealed that one of the Hamas commandos managed to attach an boom belt to a tank, which detonated without causing damage. IDF videos and blurbs of the incident given to the public contained no mention of the boom belt.

Customs employees at the Nitzana border crossing have recently seen an increase in the number of attempts to smuggle weapons and other materials into Gazoo, according to a statement by the Customs Authority.

In the last four months alone, 1,200 tubes of polyurethane, a material that can be used to produce propellant rockets, were found in a silicon shipment to Gazoo, the Authority stated.

Two-hundred kilograms of crude sulfur rods, which can be used as components of certain weapons, were also found stashed within a supply of dry food.

The authority also thwarted a smuggling attempt of 18 tons of metallurgical coke coal, often used as fuel in metal melting furnaces.

There was no immediate response from Gazoo-based authorities.

Recent U.S. 'Abu Sayyaf' Raid May Have Revealed An Inconvenient Truth
BLUF from Ralph Peters and 'Mad Dog' Mattis:
[The Daily Caller] Former Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters gave his analysis on Monday night's episode of The O'Reilly Factor. The FOX News contributor said that while the incident was good news, it was a "one-off," since "the terrorists are warned, so if we try to do it again ... it's going to be a whole lot tougher." He concluded that "like it or not, if you want to beat Islamic State, it takes boots on the ground."

Gen. James Mattis, the former head of U.S. Central Command, has warned that ruling out combat troop deployments would "reassure the enemy in advance that they're never going to face them." Sending in warfighters, he told a congressional panel, would potentially require a commitment of time and resources.

Iran's Foreign Minister: The Trouble with Obama's Nuke Deal Is '€˜Basically Everything'
[Breitbart Londonistan] Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif gave a genial interview to Der Spiegel this week, with the German magazine describing him as "relaxed and cheerful" throughout. In his relaxed and cheerful way, Zarif continued Iran's practice of making the Obama administration look foolish, rewriting the so-called "nuclear deal" on the fly and scoffing at the administration's talking points.

On the subject of those notorious talking points, Zarif said:

"I do not believe that the practice of producing fact sheets is a very useful one. The world has gone through a significant change. You cannot pick and choose your audience anymore. In the past, you could present your version of reality, your narrative to your audience, and the other side could have presented their narrative to their audience. But today in the age of the Internet and social media, narratives become global -- and that's where the problem comes. So you need to be able to present the final, complete package."

AlShabaab calls on Moslems to save Burmese migrants from 'savage Buddhists'
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] Al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
jihadists have called on southeast Asia's Moslems to come to the aid of Burmese migrants persecuted "at the hands of the savage Buddhists".

In a rare statement on an issue outside of the Horn of Africa region, the al-Qaeda-affiliated Somali jihadist group told Moslems in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand to "take the pivotal role in alleviating the suffering of the Moslems in Myanmar (Burma)".

"At the hands of the savage Buddhists, thousands of Moslems, including many women and kiddies, have fled their homes and are desperately trying to reach the shores of safety, their only crime being their adherence to Islam," the Islamist group said.

"Take matters into your own hands, help your Moslem brothers and know that this is a religious obligation upon you for which you will be held fully accountable in front of Allah on the day of judgement".

"Welcome them, open your hearts to them before you open your homes and give shelter to the fleeing Moslems. Mobilise men, money and resources to defend the honour of the persecuted Moslems and repel the savage attacks of the polytheists."

The statement came as Indonesia and Malaysia agreed to provide "temporary shelter" to thousands of migrants stranded at sea, on condition that the international community resettles them within a year.

As a further 400 starving migrants arrived in Indonesia after being rescued by local fishermen, the foreign ministers of Indonesia and Malaysia said they had reached the agreement, which marks the first step towards ending a regional crisis that has left the ocean scattered with overcrowded boats labelled "floating coffins".

Anifah Aman, Malaysia's foreign minister, said the two countries "agreed to provide them temporary shelter provided that the resettlement and repatriation process will be done in one year by the international community".
