group, Access to Justice, has called on the Nigerian government to constitute an independent inquiry into the killings that occurred at the headquarters of the State Security Services, SSS, in Abuja last Sunday.

In a statement on Wednesday signed by its Executive Director, Joseph Otteh, the group urged the government to make the results of the inquiry public. It is also asked that any persons found to have killed without lawful justification be brought to justice.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Azeri fighters in Syria called on to return and attack Armenians
Azerbaijani journalist Timur Rzaev appealed to Azerbaijani terrorists who fight in Syria, saying, "If you so badly want to fight, take the weapon and go one-on-one across the border to the Armenians.

"If you have been able to get to Syria from Baku you will manage to go across the border as well. Take weapons, grenades, break into the dugout to the Armenians and blow yourself up with them. You will die but will take with you dozens of Armenians. One man can make it, two, five, hundred ... when reached to one hundred and one, the Armenians themselves would flee from Karabakh."

Rzaev said the Azerbaijanis "who left their homeland and went to Syria should be ashamed of what they did.

"At the same time, this situation illustrates the collapse of the system of public education, lack of respect for the country, for parents, for teachers: the promises of radical preachers outweigh all of the mentioned above. And perhaps this is the most grievous result of the current situation in our eyes," he said.

According to the article, a sect of Wahhabis, which lures and dupes young people, operates in Azerbaijan freely and with impunity. It said, "If there is a sect in the country that recruits young people and make them terrorists, it is an issue the Ministry of National Security should deal with. Naturally, it is impossible to attach special agent to every religious person who would watch over him but it is necessary to curb Wahhabism. Today the terrorists fight in Syria while tomorrow they may start fighting in Azerbaijan against those whom they would consider non-believers!"

US Experts Propose Modifying Iran's Arak Plant To Reduce Bomb Threat
[Ynet] Princeton University academics suggest drastically reducing output of plutonium at the controversial heavy-water reactor to allay concerns of Iranian nuclear weapons program.
And what of the thousands of centrifuges Iran has running full speed elsewhere around the country? Not to mention what inducement could be offered that would matter more to the Mad Mullahs than using Iranian nukes to entice the hidden imam out of his well to conquer the world for Allah?

US lawmakers: Palestinians could lose US aid over statehood move
[Ynet] White House expresses 'disappointment' by 'unhelpful, unilateral actions both sides have taken in recent days.'
Yeah, yeah.
On Wednesday at the House subcommittee hearing on the UN budget, politicians questioned Samantha Power, the US ambassador to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
, about Abbas' action.

They discussed whether it would trigger a US law that Paleostinian membership in international agencies could prompt a withdrawal of financial aid to the Paleostinian Authority and closure of their mission in Washington.

Power said it was too soon to determine what response would be appropriate. "We will need to see what it is they have submitted," she said.

NYPD On High Alert: Trial Of Hate Preacher Abu Hamza Could Inspire Terror Across City
[DailyMail] o Abu Hamza's trial for terrorism charges in New York starts this month
o It's first day coincides with the beginning of Jewish holiday Passover, April 14th
o The NYPD fears that the trial may incite acts of terrorism

A decade after Abu Hamza was first tossed in the calaboose
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
in Britannia on a US warrant for terrorism charges, he is finally due to go on trial in Manhattan. The hook-handed holy man is facing allegations that he controlled a global network of jihadists.

This week, Hamza, who was extradited from Britannia in 2012, was described as a 'star' among terrorists, by Rebecca Weiner, director of intelligence analysis for the NYPD.

'We are attuned to the possibility that his upcoming trial may inspire more terror,' Ms Weiner told religious leaders during a pre-Passover conference, the NYDailyNews reports. 'It is a major priority for us in the next couple of weeks.'

Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence John Miller asserted that although the NYPD is on high alert during the trial, there is 'is no specific, credible threat' at this time.

Last month, Hamza was dubbed a 'terrorist leader of global reach' by the US government who claims he sent 'lieutenants' to terror camps worldwide.
Prosecutors have lodged legal papers ahead of his forthcoming trial alleging that: 'The [American] government will show that the defendant was a terrorist leader of global reach who ... sent his young lieutenants around the world to engage in terror training.'

The prosecution will say the preacher used Finsbury Park mosque in north London as a recruiting base, not only inspiring jihadists with his hateful sermons, but also allegedly directly providing support to Al Qaeda from Britannia.

Court papers show prosecutors consider Hamza so dangerous that they have argued jurors should be given anonymity and an armed guard for their safety.

He faces 11 terrorism charges spanning America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia which go back as far as 1998. If convicted, he faces spending the rest of his life in a maximum security US prison.

The trial, scheduled to last six weeks, could prove embarrassing for the British security services and previous governments who allowed the preacher to operate freely for years after he arrived here from Egypt, despite openly giving sermons praising the late Osama bin Laden
... who is no longer with us, and won't be again...
in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Court papers allege one of his 'lieutenants' from London was sent to Afghanistan for 'violent jihad training' and said he was prepared to take part in attacks against American and Jewish targets. Hamza is separately accused of trying to set up a 'jihad training camp' in Bly, Oregon where one of his followers is said to have penned a letter to Osama bin Laden saying: 'We love you here.' Hamza is also charged with involvement in a hostage-taking incident in Yemen in 1998 that led to the deaths of three Britons and an Australian.

The preacher was first arrested in Britannia in May 2004 on a US extradition warrant and charged with 15 terrorism offences. In 2006 he was locked away
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
for soliciting murder and stirring up racial hatred. He was extradited to America in 2012 after a costly and protracted legal battle invoking human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
law. He denies all the charges.

Than they'll scream bloody murder he was jailed so long, or (hopefully) they'll complain when he is convicted and sentenced to a hundred years in a pig pen.

Sunni parties to protest desecration of shrines in Syria
[DAWN] A multi-party conference of the groups belonging to Sunni school of thought has announced a protest drive against desecration of shrines in Syria.

Presided over by Jamaat Ulema-e-Pakistain's Qari Zawwar Bahadur and Pir Ijaz Hashmi, the conference held here on Wednesday announced holding protest demonstrations outside mosques across the country on Friday (tomorrow).

In the next phase, the parties would take out a rally from Hazrat Ali Hajvery's (Data Sahib) shrine on April 15.

A committee headed by Pir Ijaz Hashmi was also formed at the conference which would call on envoys of Syria, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Iraq and other Moslem countries where desecration of shrines was allegedly going on. The envoys would be apprised of the sentiments of Pak Moslems with regard to such incidents.

The participants were of the opinion that lack of a platform for Sunni groups had rendered them voiceless on certain issues. They suggested formation of a joint 'force' to take up issues important to the sect with the government and other authorities. However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
no final decision could be taken in this respect.

Govt rejects Musharraf's petition to strike name off ECL
[DAWN] The government has rejected former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
's application seeking removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL), DawnNews reported.

The Interior Ministry has also formally notified Musharraf in this regard.

Sources said the former president will approach the High Court in order to seek removal of his name from the ECL. It is also expected that an application will be submitted in the Sindh High Court.

Earlier on Monday, the special court which indicted Musharraf for high treason charges had put the ball in the government's court in relation to the request put forward by the former president to be allowed to travel abroad.

The court had also granted Musharraf exemption from appearing in the case's hearings saying the accused could be ordered to appear in court whenever required.

The decision had said that as long as the accused was not in jug, he could seek medical treatment at any place of his choice, adding that an accused could not be restrained from travelling nor could his/her rights as a human being be curtailed for any reason.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
the court had added that removal of Musharraf's name from ECL was not the prerogative of the special court as it had not ordered for the inclusion of his name in the list in the first place.

Taliban leadership divided on extending ceasefire
[DAWN] Due to prevailing difference of opinion among their ranks, the Pak Taliban have not extended a month-long ceasefire but are still open to pursuing peace talks with the government, a front man for the bully boy movement said Wednesday.

Central front man for Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), Shahidullah Shahid said some Taliban leaders had objected to extending the ceasefire, which lasted during the month of March.

"No decision has been made regarding extension in ceasefire," he said, adding that a meeting of the central Shura (council) would soon be held on the matter.

Shahidullah accused the government of arresting more than 120 TTP gunnies and not accepting any of their demands during the month-long ceasefire.

The TTP and the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
are now involved in their second round of peace talks. A first round failed in February after the Taliban bombed a police bus and executed 23 men kidnapped from a government paramilitary force.

The government then refused to hold further talks until the Taliban announced a ceasefire on March 1.

Government negotiators were not available Wednesday to comment on whether talks would continue.

Taliban negotiators have demanded the government release 800 prisoners they describe as innocent family members and withdraw the army from part of the semi-autonomous tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan.

"We gave this list and names of our civilian prisoners as a test case and wanted to see if the government was serious," one commander said. "But we felt that the government is either powerless or not serious in talks."

Ibrahim Khan, a Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
(JI) leader representing the Taliban in the talks, said they had presented their demands on March 29 but had no answer from the government. He did not know if talks would continue without a ceasefire.

Taliban front man Shahid accused the government of continuing to kill Taliban during the ceasefire, especially in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, the country's largest city. Taliban fighters are so prevalent in some neighbourhoods that law enforcement agencies are sometimes reluctant to enter.

Taliban capo Omar Khalid Khurasani, from the northern Mohmand region on the other hand said that attacks would begin again in Pakistain.

"There would be more attacks in which common people suffer as the government isn't sincere in peace talks," he told Rooters.

Pakistain was not entirely peaceful during the ceasefire. A bully boy group calling itself Ahrarul Hind launched a rare attack in Islamabad, killing at least 11 in a court including a judge.

The Taliban said they were not responsible for the actions of other bully boy groups.

Philippines arrests two NPA bomb suppliers
A joint military-police team has arrested two individuals believed to be suppliers of explosives being used by communist militants in Compostela Valley. Two suspected suppliers of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested during the raid and are now facing charges for selling, manufacturing, possessing and dealing illegal explosives.

Seized during the raid were 11 sacks of ammonium nitrate with a total weight of 275 kilos, 1,132 meters of time fuse, 569 pieces of blasting caps, a drum of cyanide and three kilos of mercury chemicals.

Armed Forces Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman Capt. Alberto Caber claimed that the raid would have a big impact on the operations of the NPA in the province. He said, “If the two suspects provide us information, we will be able to identify other individuals behind the manufacture of these explosives."

Israeli Bulldozer Crosses Electronic Fence near Rmeish
[AnNahar] An Israeli military bulldozer crossed the electronic fence on the border with southern Leb on Wednesday, Leb's National News Agency said.

"An Israeli Caterpillar D9 bulldozer, protected by two Merkava tanks, crossed the electronic fence in the Qatmoun area that is adjacent to the agricultural fields in the border town of Rmeish," NNA reported.

The Israeli army opened fire Tuesday on the outskirts of the occupied Shebaa Farms for a period of 30 minutes.

And on Monday, Israeli troops planted a surveillance device along the electronic fence to spy on Leb, according to NNA.

Aoun Says Will Not Run in Presidential Race if Mustaqbal Endorses Geagea
[An Nahar] Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
leader MP Michel Aoun
...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
announced on Wednesday that he will not be a presidential candidate against Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
head Samir Geagea
... Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005 ...
, if the latter gained al-Mustaqbal
... the Future Movement, political party led by Saad Hariri...
Movement's support.

"If the March 14 coalition and al-Mustaqbal Movement announced their support for Geagea in the presidential elections, I will not nominate myself," Aoun stated in an interview on Al-Mayadeen television.

"I will not be a nominee against Samir Geagea. I don't want to run against anyone," he added.

"If conditions were favorable, I am a candidate for presidency, and I am a strong one. And if they were not, then I will not nominate myself."

"My decision is not final yet," he noted.

Aoun stressed that the same standards followed in choosing the speaker and the premier must apply to electing the new president, adding that "a presidential vacuum is possible if proper Christian representation was not respected."

"It is either we respect this Christian post and Christian representation or we don't," he said.

The FPM leader remarked that without the support of the Shiites and the Druze, he will not be elected president.

He also rejected comparing the FPM's popularity with that of the LF, saying parliamentary elections are a clear indication of the popular support to either parties.

On his plans if elected president, Aoun said: "Leb's presidents come to the post with commitments to foreign nations. I am not that type and it is not about money or power. I want to leave a legacy, and I want to offer a program that solves problems on many levels in the country."

"I have big plans for Leb and the country has been on the same path since 1943. We want to change this path."

Asked about Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
's resistance, Aoun commented that it would not have existed if people didn't embrace it.

"The resistance gave the best results and was able to do what all armies of the world were not capable of doing. All these nations looked up to the achievements of the resistance."
