It was gathered that Odusote, 22, a native of Epe, Lagos, was apprehended by the police attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) after a tip-off on a robbery incident. He was reportedly heading to deliver a gun to a robbery gang in a hideout. "How many'd you call forth?"
Police recovered double-barrelled short guns sold to the gang by Bakare, as well as one live cartridge and one jack knife. "Only the one, but he wuz a big 'un!"
In his confession, Bakare said, "I sold the gun to the gang for N30,000 and used the money to meet some domestic needs." "What kind of domestic needs?"
"Sulfur. Chicken blood. Toads' eyes. That sort of thing."

On the other hand, the residents of Kunduz claimed that the Taliban was forcibly collecting Zakat (almsgiving) from the owners of farmlands who are now busy harvesting their crops.
Earlier, the elders and MPs of Kunduz asked security forces to stop operations in Kunduz to let the farmers harvest their crops.
But the governor of Kunduz, Omar Safi, strongly rejected this request saying the request was a type of lobbying for the Taliban.
"Taliban are running out of bullets and ammunition, therefore, they are now forcing the elders to request the government to stop fighting for at least two or three months," Safi told TOLOnews.
Badakhshan was the next stop for Shaheem but he was unable to spend time in Yamgan district as it is under the control of the Taliban.

[AnNahar] More than a thousand young men and women from northeast Kenya began a 800 kilometer (500 mile) peace march this weekend against rampant insecurity and terrorism in the region.
The "Walk of Hope" from Garissa, where gunnies killed close to 150 people in April, to Mandera, where bandidosholy warriors launch regular raids and ambushes, is designed to draw attention to the frequent terrorist attacks launched by the Shabaab, a Somali-led al-Qaeda affiliate.
Underscoring the area's danger, Shabaab gunnies were blamed for a fresh attack on Saturday evening just hours after the peace march began. There were no casualties reported in the raid on Bulla-Golol village, near Garissa.
"Security is not only the work of government officials and security agencies, it is the role of every patriotic Kenyan," said local government official Stephen Orindi as the march, expected to take about 30 days, began.
It comes after 142 students and six security officers were killed at Garissa University on April 2, leading to the collapse of education, health services and the construction industry as fearful non-locals flee the region.
In the university massacre and other recent terrorist attacks local Moslems have been spared while Christians, often from other parts of the country, have been targeted by the gunnies.
Dozens of public primary and secondary schools did not reopen for the start of the new term in May after 1,000 teachers refused to work citing security fears. Education official Noor Ibrahim said a quarter of Garissa county's 178 primary schools were closed.
The region's only medical college, in Garissa town, has also shut, with its 200 students transferring to Kenya's safer southern parts.
"We want to use the walk to create awareness among communities in the northern region faced with immense challenges ranging from terrorism, clan skirmishes and other natural calamities to unite to face these challenges head on," said march organizer Salah Abdi Sheikh, a local activist.
"The purpose of this trek is to give hope to the people in the region," he said.
The peace marchers plan to stop in remote, neglected villages along the way to talk about the risks of clan conflict and promote peaceful coexistence.
The marchers, who will spend a month trekking across the harsh, arid terrain in scorching temperatures, will be assisted by rescue vehicles and a team of medical personnel.
Cairo -- Egypt on Sunday referred 58 Islamists suspected of links with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood to a military court over alleged “terrorist attacks” against the police and public property.
The authorities have waged a deadly crackdown against the Brotherhood since the army overthrew president Mohammed Mursi in 2013, and accuse the movement of being behind attacks against the security forces.
Prosecutors accuse the 58 Islamists, 37 of whom are in custody, of working for the Brotherhood and carrying out “terrorist attacks” between August 2013 and October 2014.

Cairo -- An Egyptian criminal court sentenced 23 people to 14 years in prison on Saturday on charges of killing four Shia men two years ago.
The four were beaten to death west of Cairo, when a crowd of angry villagers surrounded the house of Shia community leader Hassan Shehata, threatening to set it on fire if 34 Shias inside did not leave the village before the end of the day, according to security officials. When they refused, villagers attacked them, dragged them along the ground, and partially burned the house, the officials said.
The attack came just days before president Mohammed Mursi was ousted from power by the military.
Judicial officials said that of the 23 sentenced to prison time, nine are currently in custody. The court also acquitted eight of the defendants in the same case, the officials said.
Also on Saturday, an appeals court granted a retrial for a top militant and 15 others accused of killing 25 Egyptian police officers in 2013. Saturday’s ruling overturns previous convictions ranging from a death sentence to 15 years in prison.
The attack in 2013 saw militants ambush two minibuses carrying off-duty police officers near the border town of Rafah, days after security forces killed hundreds of people in a crackdown on supporters of ousted Mohammed Mursi at protest camps in Cairo. Officials said the militants lined up the officers then shot them.
Authorities have said defendant Adel Habara, who previously was sentenced to death in this case, is a senior member of the Sinai-based militant organisation Ansar Beit Al Maqdis. The group, however, did not claim responsibility for the 2013 attack.

Al-Bashir appeared for a group photo with other African leaders at the summit in Johannesburg on Sunday, wearing a blue three-piece suit, a tie and a smile as cameras flashed.

It comes as riot police were deployed on Saturday night along the Italian-French border after a group of around 200 migrants were denied entry into France. The migrants began blocking traffic, while others went on hunger strike in protest at the decision by French authorities.
Italian police pushed the migrants back to Ventimiglia, an Italian city about three miles from the border, but the protests continued late into the night. Migrants held aloft banners reading “we want freedom” and “we are not going back”, while one man had to be rescued after throwing himself in the sea.

However, a tightening of security at the French and Austrian borders has resulted in a bottleneck in Italy’s border towns and train stations.
Enrico Ioculano, mayor of Ventimiglia, said he had warned a month ago that the situation in the town was reaching breaking point.
“It’s not normal for France to block its borders in this way,” he said. “This is an international drama. It shouldn’t be the case that only one region is left alone to deal with the emergency.”
About 150 migrants – including babies as young as three months – slept outside Milan Central Station over the weekend as they waited to take their chance on trains leaving for France and beyond.
In Bolzano, South Tyrol, there is a daily procession of migrants who attempt to board trains for Austria.
Charity workers offering food and drink to families camped out on station platforms in Bolzano said that officials are playing a “game of ping pong”, where migrants boarding trains for Innsbruck, a city in the Austrian alps, are stopped and sent back to Italy. They then try again on a different train, often hiding in lavatories to avoid detection.
Angelino Alfano, Italy's interior minister, later said that the EU would encounter "a different Italy" if member states cannot agree on a redistribution plan.
"I will say with great clarity: Kids, either we do equal distribution of migrants in Europe, or we organise refugee camps in Libya, or we organise a serious policy of repatriation," Mr Alfano told Sky TG24. "If Europe doesn't follow through on its responsibility and solidarity, it will find a different Italy."
Take a lesson from Australia: the liberals there whined when the government implemented its "Not Here" policy, but the number of migrants has virtually stopped. The idea of "organize camps in Libya" is about the best option. EU militaries could rotate in to provide protection, and EU third sons and daughters, those who would ordinarily join the UN, could dash about in white Land Cruisers while pretending to help.

[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said a snap election would be "inevitable" if both the ruling AK Party and the main opposition fail in efforts to form a new government within the constitutional limit of 45 days.
In comments published on Sunday in Milliyet newspaper, Erdogan said he planned to grant a mandate to form a new government first to the AKP, which won around 41 percent of the vote in the June 7 election -- short of securing the parliamentary majority required to rule alone.
"Let's say the party who came first in the election could not achieve this (to form a government) and neither did the second one.....In such a case, going to the ballot box again as per the constitution would be inevitable," Erdogan told news hounds late on Saturday as he flew back from Azerbaijan.
"I don't call this a snap poll but a re-run."
After parliament is sworn in later this month, Erdogan is expected to formally empower the AKP to form a new government. If it does not succeed in doing so within 45 days, he has the power to call a new election.
"To leave the country without a government is unthinkable," Erdogan said. "The uncertainty should not last long to make sure investments and our international relations are not disrupted. A government should be formed as soon as possible."

[DAWN] A constable of the Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) police who had strayed into India-held Kashmire about a month ago was repatriated by Indian officials on Saturday.
Kashif Baig, a resident of Amra Saawan village in district Hattian Bala, had inadvertently crossed the Line of Control towards the western side of Chakothi sector, some 60km south off here.
The constable who is said to be an unbalanced person had been incarcerated by the Indian authorities.
On Saturday, Indian authorities handed him over to Pak officials on this side of the LoC at Kaman Bridge. Army officials took him into custody for interrogation.
When asked why an insane person had been recruited, an AJK police officer said the question should be addressed to the high-ups of the police department.

[Rudaw] Kirkuk Governor Najmadin Karim harshly criticized Baghdad on Sunday over the province's financial crisis due to a halt of funds from the central government.
Karim expressed anger the central government was still sending djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... its budget despite the fact the city is under the control of ISIS jihadis, but had halted Kirkuk payments, where "half a million refugees and displaced Iraqis" escaping from ISIS are currently sheltered.
"I want to ask Baghdad, why do you send $28 million to clean up and rebuild roads in Mosul for your troops to be able to pass by, while it is now under the control of ISIS? Why halt the Kirkuk budget?" Karim asked in an exchange broadcast on Rudaw TV.
Officials from all ethnic backgrounds in the multi-ethnic province of Kirkuk gathered Sunday to discuss financial problems they have faced since Baghdad halted the provincial budget.
Karim also announced the creation of a committee tasked with visiting officials in Baghdad to discuss with them financial and service problems facing Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... including a lack of sufficient electricity.
Karim said the oil-rich Kirkuk has not received its provincial budget for six months, and has not been paid for its oil in two years.

[Rudaw] Tariq Aziz was laid to rest Saturday after a ceremony in his honor at a church in the Jordanian capital, Amman, eight days after the debonair Iraqi diplomat died in prison of a heart attack.
Hundreds of Iraqis and Jordanians attended the church services of Aziz, the only Christian in Saddam Hussein's inner circle, at St. Mary of Nazareth church in Amman.
"You had frightened your enemies when you were free, and you had frightened them even after your soul left your body which had suffered from the prison's darkness," said Aziz's daughter, Zeinab, speaking at the ceremony."Your message has reached everybody in the whole world," she said.
Supporters of Aziz chanted pro-Baath party and anti-Iran slogans outside the church. Supporters also carried pictures for former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.
Aziz died June 5 at age 79. He had been in prison since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and suffered a series of strokes. He faced execution for his role in a government that killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.
After the ceremony in Amman, Aziz was buried in the historical Christian town of Madaba, ending an eight-day sojourn from southern Iraq to the Baghdad airport, where his body briefly disappeared, before being flown to Jordan for burial.
Jordan's government agreed to a request by Aziz's family to bury him in Jordan. After an autopsy, Zeinab said her father's body went missing at Baghdad International Airport on Thursday. Authorities said Aziz's body never went missing, but was merely delayed over incomplete paperwork.
The body arrived in Amman early Saturday morning.

Iran is aiming to strike an accord with six powers by June 30 that would curtail its nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions. But negotiators have hit an impasse in part over how much enhanced access ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors should have to Iranian sites.
"Iran will absolutely not allow its national secrets to fall into the hands of foreigners through the Additional Protocol or any other means," Rouhani said in a televised news conference, referring to an IAEA provision that would allow more intrusive inspections in the Islamic Theocratic Republic.
U.S. and French diplomats have called for Iran to accept stringent measures including granting inspectors access to its military sites as well as inspections on as little as two hours notice -- access that the Protocol could encompass.
Rouhani said Iran could embrace the Protocol, noting that other states that are signatories to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) had done so without problem. But he insisted Iran should not face especially far-reaching measures.
