Somali MPs set to impeach president for corruption
[Iran Press TV] Somali politicians say they are poised to stage a no-confidence vote to unseat the president, rejecting international warnings that the planned impeachment could hamper peace efforts in the war-torn country.

In a motion filed earlier this week, opposition politicians accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud of corruption, saying that the Somali leader must be impeached at the parliament.

"This motion is not aimed at destruction, but rather correction," said parliament member Abdi Barre Yusuf, a supporter of the motion, on Thursday.

Abdirahman Hosh Jibril, another MP, also said the motion is merely aimed at "bringing about change."

Jibril further added that the supporters of the motion have accused the president of having "intervened with the independent constitutional institutions of the country like the courts."

It is not yet clear how many politicians will vote in favor of the motion to oust the troubled president, but opposition politicians claim they have the support of the majority of the parliament.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
at least 90 members are needed for a motion to be put to parliamentary debate. Two-thirds of the 275-member House would also have to support the motion in order to force out the president.

Gazans nabbed in Sinai were Hamas naval commandos en route to training
[IsraelTimes] Islamic terror group says Egyptian intelligence intercepted the four, who may have been heading to Iran

Four Gazooks kidnapped on a bus traveling from Rafah to Cairo airport on Wednesday night were senior Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, naval commandos who were heading overseas -- apparently to Iran -- for training, The Times of Israel has learned.

In Gazoo, it is believed that the four were intercepted by Egyptian intelligence operatives, and the incident has raised tensions between Hamas and Egypt to new heights.

The four crossed into Egypt via Rafah, where the border was opened in recent days for humanitarian purposes. The Egyptian authorities apparently learned ahead of time that they were making the journey. The crossing has now been closed.

The four were named as Abed Al-Daim Al-Bassat, Said Abdullah Abu Jbin, Yasser Fathi Zanun and Hussein Hamis al-Thbada.

Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...
quoted a Hamas source on Thursday asserting that Egyptian intelligence was responsible for the abduction.

Various media reports have previously stated that Hamas naval commandos have received sophisticated equipment and undergone intensive training in Iran. The commandos are also reported to have acquired highly mobile underwater scooters that can travel relatively long distances, potentially enabling access to targets deep inside Israel.

Egypt has been closely monitoring the activities of the Hamas military wing in Gazoo, and especially in the area bordering the Sinai, in light of information that the Hamas fighters have been working together with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-linked activists in the peninsula. Egypt is said to have intelligence indicating that Hamas fighters gather information on Egyptian Army movements in the area, and are working with IS to smuggle weaponry in and out of Gazoo.

Footage from a Hamas drone that fell inside Israel is also said to indicate that Hamas has been filming along the Gazoo-Egypt border.
Ynet has more on the Hamas naval commando program here.

Egypt releases Hamas official detained at Cairo airport
[AlAhram] Egypt will allow a Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, official detained two days ago at Cairo airport for problems with his paperwork to return to Gazoo, security sources said on Wednesday.

Egyptian authorities on Monday stopped Hassan Asseify, the deputy religious affairs minister in Hamas-ruled Gazoo, on his way back from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to the Paleostinian enclave after airport security found him not approved to enter Egypt, security sources said on Tuesday.

Asseify will be allowed to leave Egypt for Gazoo within hours, following "intensive contact" between Hamas officials and Egyptian security agencies, security sources said on Wednesday.
So on he goes, perhaps stripped of the several suitcases of Saudi cash he was no doubt carrying, a reminder that life in Gaza depends on Egyptian permission to continue... while allowing the lads back home to play with Ansar Bayt al Maqdis is the surest way to get that permission revoked again.
Hamas has long had ties to the Egyptian Moslem Brüderbund that was ousted from power when former president Mohammed Morsi was tossed in 2013 after mass protests against his rule.

The Egyptian government has accused Hamas of helping Islamist forces of Evil in Egypt's Sinai desert, which borders on Gazoo, to attack its security forces. Hamas denies this.

A decision by an Egyptian court in June to cancel a previous ruling labelling Hamas a terrorist group raised speculation that relations between Egypt and Hamas may improve.

Nigeria Investigates How Terrorist Ahmad Al-Assir Got Visa to Lagos
[ALMANAR.LB] Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into how a runaway terrorist linked to takfiri

groups secured a valid Nigerian visa in Leb, Daily Trust reported Wednesday.

Terrorist Ahmad Al-Assir, who was sentenced to death in absentia and had been on the run since 2013, was placed in durance vile

on Saturday at Beirut International Airport on his way to Nigeria through Egypt.
He's the guy who looks like Squidward with a beard.
He was carrying a fake Paleostinian passport with Nigerian visa.

Daily Trust said -- citing credible sources -- that the Nigerian presidency felt embarrassed and scandalized that a man on the international terror list had obtained a Nigerian visa and was on his way to the country.

"It was even worrisome for the government that Al-Assir was trying to enter Nigeria at a time when the country is trying to put down the Boko Haram

The Nigerian government had therefore directed the three agencies involved -- the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Nigerian Immigration Service to immediately investigate the matter and report back soonest.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bulus Lolo, said the Federal Government had begun investigations on a wanted terrorist granted a Nigerian visa in Leb to visit Nigeria.

Lolo explained that the Nigerian Charge d'Affairs in Leb had met with Lebanese authorities to look into the matter.

Assir fled justice in June 2013, after deadly festivities against the Lebanese army in Abra region in the southern city of Sidon.

GCC and US discuss ways to combat terrorism
[ARABNEWS] A US-GCC joint working group for counterterrorism concluded its meetings in Riyadh Thursday, during which senior officials from both sides discussed ways of improving cooperation in the fight against terrorism and countering Iran’s destabilizing activities.
How about "takfir wal hijra is a death sentence"?
Assistant Secretary General for Foreign Affairs at the GCC Abdul Aziz Aluwaisheg, said the meeting, which was attended by politicians and security officials from both sides, is particularly important in light of the recent terrorist attacks in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, in addition to the potential effects of the nuclear deal between Iran and Western nations. A press statement issued Thursday said an agreement was reached at the Camp David summit on May 14 to intensify cooperation between the GCC and the US in the area of Gulf security protection, including joint work to combat terrorism and confront Iran’s destabilizing activities.

UN must 'criminalize' Houthi acts

...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. I doubt it. It would call for criminalizing all rebels, everywhere.
"These Houthi militias have forcefully occupied the WAMY headquarters and other charitable organizations in the Yemeni capital," Saleh Al-Wohaibi, WAMY secretary-general, told Arab News on Thursday.

He said that all the WAMY staff members in Sanaa have returned to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. because of their unlawful occupation. "We had one dormitory full of orphans under our care, who were also chased out of the home," he said.

"The inhumane, criminals acts of the rebels will have to be met with the right form of actions," he said, appealing to the United Nations to use their offices to punish the rebels.

Al-Wohaibi said the whole world observed the United Nations' World Humanitarian Day on Wednesday and it was time for everyone to fight atrocities against innocent people everywhere.

"While condemning detrimental actions against humanity, I strongly urge the social workers involved in serving society not to deter from their path of action and give way to their criminal acts."

With the help of several international relief organizations, WAMY delivered about 50,000 food baskets over the past four months to needy people in Yemen.

According to Al-Wohaibi, the organization distributed baskets in Al-Jund and Al-Hudaida regions which were home to many poor people. The aid included large amounts of medical supplies, benefiting more than 250,000 needy Yemenis.

Each $100 basket contained 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of sugar, 20 kg of flour, 2 liters of oil, and food products such as pastas and sauces, provided by businesspeople in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He said the King Salman

BNP: Government using crossfires to maintain law and order
[Dhaka Tribune] The BNP has blamed the government of using so-called shootouts to try and maintain the country's law and order as the situation has now gone beyond their control.
It's working, too...
The party also apprehended that opposition leaders and activists may also become future targets of extrajudicial killings.

"Extrajudicial killings cannot be accepted. We are apprehending that after the deaths of two to four Awami league-Chhatra League

activists [in shootouts], opposition leaders will be the [next] victims," said Asaduzzaman Ripon, international affairs secretary of the BNP.

Addressing a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters yesterday, Ripon said the government wanted to create terror through incidents of crossfire. "We condemn all sorts of crossfire. Criminal activities have increased across the country. Crossfire is not a solution."

Since it was formed during the tenure of the past BNP government, crime-busting elite force Rapid Action Battalion has regularly been criticised by human rights

, left the party, and sat for a meeting in Foy's Lake area of Chittagong city in November 2013. They agreed to raise an gang under the cover of a non-government organization named Love for Rohingya, RAB personnel have said.

They later designed the new bully boy outfit named Shahid Hamza Brigade, appointed chiefs for its five wings -- three army teams, a media and another to collect new members, bought arms and ammunition, and later trained the recruits, most of who belonged to Chhatra Shibir and radical Islamist platform Hefajat-e-Islam
...a madrassa-based false nose and mustache of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, formed in 2010 to protest against secular education. In 2011 demonstrated violentyly against women's rights and in 2013 held large rallies demanding capital punishment of Shahbag Square protesters and banning women working outside the home...
.

The Sherlocks said that each of the teams had seven members, all trained as "one-man army." The Chittagong-based outfit was styled as Syria-based international bully boy outfit Mujahideen with an aim to toppling the Awami League-led government through an armed revolution.

"They had plans to conduct massive subversive activities across the country as part of their armed revolution," Rapid Action Battalion (RAB 7) Commanding Officer Lt Col Mifta Uddin said.

To implement their operations, Hamza Brigade received money from the three lawyers held on Tuesday in the capital, and another Dubai citizen named Allama Libdi. RAB suspects that its chief have fled to Malaysia. The outfit's five accounts were managed by its leader Moniruzzaman Masud alias Don, a former Shibir activist.

Supreme Court lawyer barrister Shakila Farzana's name came in Don's confessional statement, RAB sources said. Names of the two other arrestees were found in confessional statements given by 27 other members of the group, who were tossed in the clink

since February.

Shakila is the joint general secretary of pro-BNP lawyers' body Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum. She is the daughter of Syed Wahidul Alam, a former BNP politician from Chittagong. Shakila and two of her associates were later put on remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The case was filed after RAB personnel busted a training camp of the outfit in a remote area of Chittagong's Banshkhali on February 21. Two days back, RAB conducted drive at Hamza Brigade's theoretical training centre "Al Madrasatul Abu Bakar" in Hathazari of Chittagong where the members had been given training using audio-visual materials in the guise of an Arabic language coaching centre. The madrasa-like coaching centre was run by Mohammad Fattah -- who is currently on the run.

RAB claims that Shakila deposited Tk25 lakh and Tk27 lakh for the outfit in two phases while Md Hasanuzzaman Liton deposited Tk31 lakh and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon Tk25 lakh. They found that Hamza Brigade's bank accounts had a total of Tk1,38,70,000.

"We are interrogating the lawyers about the source of money, their motive behind the funding and the other members of the outfit," Mifta said yesterday.

He said that most of the 29 Hamza Brigade detained since February were activists of Shibir, Qawmi madrasa-based platform Hefajat-e-Islam and other local bully boy organizations.

Tale of an unending trial
[Dhaka Tribune] Two years ago, on the ninth anniversary of the August 21 grenade attack, the persecution said they were hopeful that trial would end before the Awami League government completed its tenure.

Until then, the court recorded the depositions of only 72 out of the 491 prosecution witnesses. Over the next one year, only 26 more witnesses testified.

Last year, on the tenth anniversary of that deadly attack on an Awami League rally in Dhaka, the prosecution again hoped that trial would end before the next anniversary, that is today.

In the last one year, the court recorded the statements of another 78 witnesses, taking the tally to 176 since the trial began in 2008.

Pro-Awami League lawyer and former Dhaka Bar president Kazi Nazibullah Hiru told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday: "The slow pace of the trial has angered the victims and their families. Even the prime minister is astonished at the slow pace of the trial."

He also said: "There is no need to make all the witnesses testify. The testimonies of more than 100 witnesses are enough to prove the charges against the accused as many video clips are also available as evidence."

At least 24 people, including Awami League's women affairs secretary Ivy Rahman, wife of late president Zillur Rahman, were killed and 300 others injured in the grenade attack.

About a dozen grenades were went kaboom! when the loathesome Sheikh Hasina

She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums..

The other victims -- many of whom have been crippled for life by grenade splinters -- and their families have now been waiting for more than a decade now, hoping to see the trial end and the perpetrators get punished.

The slow pace at which the case had been moving along has only added to their ever mounting frustration.

Awami League leader M Ata Ullah, a victim, testified before the court seeking exemplary punishment for the attackers. He was present at the rally on that day.

#6  CNN AM has repor that US Milfors have resumed MILEX wid their SOKOR counterparts.

The proverbial "SHTF" isn't occurring just yet, although the way things are slowly-n-steadily escalating between China + PH,Vietnam, + now Japan the US should expect higher frequency of "intense/intensive incidents" as China is still showing no sign that it is willing to delay, amend, or give up on any its "post-US" MilPol ambitions.

IMO, China is counting that as long as it doesn't open fire first at US Regional Allies, POTUS Obama = US per se won't officially invoke its various Mutual Defense treaties wid its Regional Allies, allowing China to continue both its military buildups + reclamation activities, etc. + carve out its Co-Superpower "Sphere(s) of Influence" in East Asia + IOR widout fear of direct US intervention.

I FEAR US REGIONAL ALLIES MAY STILL END UP BEING UJILATERA FRUSTRATED + DISAPPOINTED IFF HOPED-FOR US SUPPORT PROVES INEFFECTIVE IN STOPPING CHINA'S ACTVITIES.

The Scenario is there, + realistic, that US Regional Allies will abandon their treaties wid the US, + side wid China itself or else join an increasingly ANTI-US NAM.

WINNER = CHINA [+ Putinist Russia, Iran].

PUT ANOTHER WAY, DON'T FEAR "RED DAWN", FEAR "RED DAWN II" AS CHINA + PLA INVADE THE USA WHILE ANGRY US ALLIES JUST SIT BACK + DO NOTHING TO SUPPORT THE US AGZ ENEMY INVASION???

Pudgy sez: attack, attack, attack
North Korean military official said on Friday that senior party and defense officials led by North Korean leader Fat Boy Kim Jong Un met Thursday night and “reviewed and approved the final attack operation.”

The move came after Thursday saw the most serious confrontation between the rivals in years. The official gave no details about what kind of military retaliation North Korea would see as appropriate for South Korea’s shelling of its territory on Thursday.

However, Kim Yong Chol, director of the general reconnaissance bureau of the North Korean army, denied Friday that North Korea had fired across the Demilitarized Zone and said South Korea had not offered conclusive evidence of where a rocket would have come from. He suggested South Korea may have made a human error in its assessment of events and that its decision to retaliate was dangerous and rash.

“Skirmishes can lead to all-out war,” Chol said.

South Korea’s defense minister Han Minkoo on Friday warned North Korea that it would face “searing” consequences if it launched fresh provocation.

“This time, we’ll cut off a vicious circle of North Korean provocation,” Minkoo said, adding that Seoul was closely cooperating with the U.S. to deter potential aggression by North Korea.

Early on Friday, North Korean leader Suet Face Kim Jong Un declared his frontline troops in a “quasi-state of war,” and ordered them to prepare for battle.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing an unidentified government source, reported on Friday that South Korean and U.S. surveillance assets detected the movement of vehicles in North Korea carrying short-range Scud and medium-range Rodong missiles in a possible preparation for launches. South Korea’s Defense Ministry said it could not confirm the report.

South Korea’s military on Thursday fired dozens of artillery rounds across the border in response to what Seoul said were North Korean artillery strikes meant to back up a threat to attack loudspeakers broadcasting anti-Pyongyang propaganda.

The North’s declaration of a “quasi-state of war” is similar to its other warlike rhetoric in recent years, including repeated threats to reduce Seoul to a “sea of fire,” and the huge numbers of soldiers and military equipment already stationed along the border mean the area is always essentially in a “quasi-state of war.” Still, the North’s apparent willingness to test Seoul with military strikes and its recent warning of further action raise worries because South Korea has vowed to hit back with overwhelming strength should North Korea attack again.

Pyongyang says it did not fire anything at the South, a claim Seoul dismissed as nonsense.

Kim Jong Un ordered his troops to “enter a wartime state” and be fully ready for any military operations starting Friday evening, according to a report in Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency. The North has also given Seoul a deadline of Saturday evening to remove border loudspeakers that, after a lull of 11 years, have started broadcasting anti-Pyongyang propaganda. Failure, Pyongyang says, will result in further military action. Seoul has vowed to continue the broadcasts.

The North’s media report said that “military commanders were urgently dispatched for operations to attack South Korean psychological warfare facilities if the South doesn’t stop operating them.”

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing an unidentified government source, reported Friday that South Korean and U.S. surveillance assets detected the movement of vehicles carrying short-range Scud and medium-range Rodong missiles in a possible preparation for launches. South Korea’s Defense Ministry said it could not confirm the report.

North Korea threatens action in South Korea over anti-Pyongyang broadcasts
[WASHINGTONPOST] North Korea Thursday threatened to escalate a propaganda war against South Korea into a military one, with Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
's regime telling Seoul it has until Saturday evening to remove speakers blasting anti-Pyongyang messages across the demilitarized zone that separates the two countries.
The usual hysterical frothing at the mouth and threatening seas of fire if they don't get their way...
The warning came shortly after a rare exchange of heavy artillery fire between the countries, rattling nerves in the South during a time of heightened tensions.

"The North side threatened to start military action if the South does not stop its anti-Pyongyang psychological broadcasting and remove all the facilities in 48 hours from 5 p.m.," South Korea's ministry of national defense said, quoting a letter from the North's general staff department, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Europe
Slovakia says it will grant asylum to 200 Christian Syrians
[Iran Press TV] Slovakia says it will grant asylum to only 200 Christian Syrians as the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
struggles to cope with a surge in the number of refugees and migrants.

Slovakia has decided to accept only Christians because they "have a great potential to seamlessly integrate into" the country, Slovakia's Interior Ministry spokeswoman, Michaela Paulenova, told AFP on Thursday.

This would be a two-year process, Paulenova said, adding that "we have nothing against religion, nor is it discrimination. It is just an effort on Slovakia's part to make this integration successful."

According to Paulenova, Moslems would not be accepted because they would not feel at home.

According to an opinion poll released in June, 70 percent of Slovakia's 5.4 million citizens do not want to take in refugees or migrants.

This sentiment has been reportedly echoed by most EU member states in other surveys conducted on the issue of migrants.

Calais migrant crisis 'could shift to other ports'
[BBC] The migrant crisis could shift from Calais to other ports, Home Secretary Theresa May has said.

Mrs May said she was "well aware of the possibility of displacement" of the issues at Calais, and was "looking at" security at ports including Dunkirk.

She spoke as the UK and La Belle France agreed a deal further improving security around Calais.

She said ministers were also in talks with Belgium and the Netherlands about security at their ports.

Commons Home Affairs Committee chairman Keith Vaz echoed Mrs May, highlighting the "dangers of the domino principle" and saying that closing one route "will only mean the problem moves to another port".

He said agreements needed to be in place with countries across Europe's north coast to prevent that.

'Resistant to abuse'

Migrants camped in and around Calais have been making nightly attempts to reach the UK, often by boarding lorries heading for the port or the Eurotunnel.

Mrs May, who toured the Eurotunnel site in Coquelles earlier, said it had been a "difficult summer" with high levels of migrant activity and strike action in Calais.

But she said joint efforts with the French government were working.

She said La Belle France and the UK would also work with other EU states to try to ensure there were "fully functioning external borders and an asylum system that is resistant to abuse".

US finds Pakistan's action against Haqqani terrorist network inadequate

According to the informed sources in the government of Pakistain, the US Department of Defence has conveyed the concerns in this regard to thee Pak mission in Washington as well as to the authorities in Islamabad.

The next tranche of Coalition Support Fund (CSF) has also reportedly been blocked following the move by the United States.

Pakistain has so far received around $13 billion from the United States as part of the reimbursement for operations and maintenance costs incurred in direct support of US operations in Afghanistan since 2001.

The Haqqani terrorist network is accused of staging numerous cross-border attacks from their base in North Waziristan, including the 19-hour siege at the US Embassy in Kabul

LHC bans Indian film over Hafiz Saeed's complaint
[DAWN] A lawyer for Hafiz Mohammed Saeed said on Thursday that a court has banned an upcoming Bollywood movie that 'imagines' his client being assassinated.

Saeed, who has a $10 million bounty on his head over his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, had petitioned the Lahore High Court to ban the film "Phantom" in Pakistain, saying it posed a threat to his life and was Indian propaganda meant to hurt Pakistain's image.

"It is absurd to say that (Saeed) is linked to the attacks in Mumbai," said lawyer A.K. Dogar. "We hope the government will take steps to implement the court order."

According to a court document, the government informed the Lahore High Court that it had received no request from the producer of "Phantom" to show the movie in Pakistain.

"Phantom" will be released in India on August 28.

A brief statement from the court announcing the decision did not give its reason for banning the film.

There was no immediate reaction from the film's producer. Director Kabir Khan has been quoted as saying that Saeed is the one who is spreading a hate agenda.

In Phantom, based on the novel "Mumbai Avengers" by S. Hussain Zaidi, Indian spies target those behind the Mumbai siege, a three-day rampage in India's financial capital that left 166 people dead.

But unlike the novel, which used pseudonyms for those accused of plotting the attack, "Phantom" apparently names Saeed, as well as American David Coleman Headley, who was sentenced to 35 years in a US prison for his role in planning the siege.

Authorities in the United States and India blamed the myrmidon group Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
, which is seen as a front for Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
's Jamaat-ud-Dawa
...the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba...
(JuD), for carrying out the Mumbai assault.

Federal agencies 'unnecessarily aggressive' in Sindh, Qaim tells Nawaz
[DAWN] Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday told Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
in a high-end law and order meeting that federal agencies have become "unnecessarily aggressive" in Sindh.

"This is not only beyond their jurisdiction but against the Constitution of Pakistain," the chief minister remarked.

The meeting was held at the Governor House during the prime minister's visit to the metropolis Thursday.

Qaim Ali Shah explained that under the constitution, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have no jurisdiction in provincial matters.

"Every institution must work within its own domain and mandate, otherwise complications, serious problems and mistrust may take place," he observed.

Attack on mosque in India ignites fears of a larger communal design
[DAWN] Early on Tuesday, anxiety gripped the town of Faizabad as word spread about a prominent mosque being set afire by unidentified miscreants the previous night.

A part of the Madani Masjid, located in Faizabad's Mughalpura locality, was gutted in the attack. The mosque houses a madrasa and the local office of Jamat-e-Ulema Hind, a national organization of Moslem holy mans.

According to the First Information Report registered on August 18, the attack occurred around 11.30 pm on August 17. "Bottles full of petrol were thrown inside the mosque which was then set on fire," the FIR said. "One portion of the mosque that housed religious texts and books of madrasa was completely burnt down."

Iraq
Abadi Orders Major Cuts in Iraqi Officials Guards
[ALMANAR.LB] Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi Thursday ordered major cuts in the number of guards for officials, the latest step in a reform drive to curb corruption and streamline the government.

Abadi rolled out a reform program this month in response to popular pressure from weeks of protests against corruption and poor services, and to a call for drastic change from Iraq's top Moslem holy man, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani.

Parliament has approved Abadi's plan along with additional measures, but a major gap remains between announcements and implementation.

Abadi ordered "major cuts in the number of personal guards for officials and the presidencies and others, reaching up to 90 percent," his office said in a statement.

He also ordered "the abolition of the special protection regiments belonging to individuals and their return to the defense and interior ministries," the statement said, referring to large guard units of some bigwigs.

The measures will see over 20,000 guards who were paid more than 250 billion dinars ($208.3 million) per year to guard a limited number of officials become available for duty with the army and police, front man Saad al-Hadithi said.

The orders came four days after Abadi announced he was scrapping 11 of 33 cabinet posts, cutting three deputy premier and four ministerial posts, and merging four more ministries.

Grand Ayatollah Sistani demands real reform to avoid Iraq split
[Iran Press TV] Iraq's prominent Shia holy man, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, has called for the implementation of real reform in a bid to prevent untoward consequences, including a possible partition of the country.

"Today, if true reform is not realized by fighting corruption without mercy and realizing social justice on different levels, it is expected that circumstances will become worse than before," Grand Ayatollah Sistani said in a written statement from his office in the holy shrine city of Najaf on Thursday.

He added that Iraq could be "dragged to... partition and the like, God forbid."

The top holy man further noted that corruption has taken a heavy toll on Iraq in the fight against the Daesh Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
group.

The terrorist organization would not have been able to control swathes of the Iraqi territory without endemic corruption, especially in security forces, and the misappropriation of power by senior authorities, Ayatollah Sistani pointed out.

On August 14, the top Iraqi Shia holy man voiced his support for a recent set of reforms by the country's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, saying, however, that more such measures are needed to eradicate corruption in the country.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
US troubled by Israeli escalation of Palestinian home demolitions
The United States said Thursday it was concerned by the number of illegal Palestinian residential structures Israel demolished this month in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

"We are also very troubled by the recent escalation of demolitions and evictions, which include the destruction of dozens of structures and the displacement of over 150 people in the West Bank and east Jerusalem this month alone," US State Department Spokesperson John Kirby said on Thursday.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Full text of secret deal between Iran and IAEA on inspections
[IsraelTimes] Officials confirm draft does not differ from final, confidential deal between UN nuclear watchdog and Tehran

VIENNA -- The following is a transcript of the original draft agreement between the UN's ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran covering inspections at the Parchin military site, where Iran has been accused of pursuing nuclear weapons development a decade ago.

This agreement is separate from the much-broader Iran nuclear deal signed by Iran, the US, and five other world powers in July.

Two officials, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, confirmed to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that this draft does not differ from the final, confidential agreement between the IAEA and Iran.

The AP was not allowed to have a copy of the draft but was allowed to transcribe the entire text, and it appears here:

___

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iran and the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency on 11 July 2015, regarding the Road-map, Paragraph 5

Iran and the Agency agreed on the following sequential arrangement with regard to the Parchin issue:

1. Iran will provide to the Agency photos of the locations, including those identified in paragraph 3 below, which would be mutually agreed between Iran and the Agency, taking into account military concerns.

2. Iran will provide to the Agency videos of the locations, including those identified in paragraph 3 below, which would be mutually agreed between Iran and the Agency, taking into account military concerns.

3. Iran will provide to the Agency 7 environmental samples taken from points inside one building already identified by the Agency and agreed by Iran, and 2 points outside of the Parchin complex which would be agreed between Iran and the Agency.

4. The Agency will ensure the technical authenticity of the activities referred to in paragraphs 1-3 above. Activities will be carried out using Iran's authenticated equipment, consistent with technical specifications provided by the Agency, and the Agency's containers and seals.

5. The above mentioned measures would be followed, as a courtesy by Iran, by a public visit of the Director General, as a dignitary guest of the Government of Iran, accompanied by his deputy for safeguards.

6. Iran and the Agency will organize a one-day technical roundtable on issues relevant to Parchin.

"This is an important security achievement that deserves our deep appreciation which we extend to the army institution," the bloc said after its weekly meeting.

The bloc hoped that justice would take its course in the case and that his accomplices from funders to inciters and even those who provided cover-up will be detained.

Iran confirms reopening of UK embassy in Tehran on Sunday
[Iran Press TV] An informed source in the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirms reports of the reopening of UK embassy in Tehran, Press TV reports.

The source said on Thursday that the reopening will take place during a visit by UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond to Tehran on Sunday.

The reopening of the embassy is seen as the biggest shift in the West's policies toward Iran following the nuclear conclusion between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries - the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany - on July 14.

Hammond will be Britannia's first top diplomat to visit the Iranian capital in nearly 14 years. He will reportedly be accompanied on his trip by a number of business leaders.

Iran atomic agency rejects AP report on IAEA inspections as speculation
[Iran Press TV] Iran's atomic energy agency has dismissed a media report that Iranian experts, instead of the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) staff, will inspect the country's nuclear sites.

On Thursday, the front man for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) rejected as speculation a recent report released by American news agency, The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, about the inspection of Iran's nuclear sites, adding that the IAEA has so far remained committed to keeping Iran's documents confidential.

The agency has not made any move in violation of its commitments, Behrouz Kamalvandi stated.

He also stressed that Iran's considerations have been fully addressed within the framework of Tehran-IAEA cooperation.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Kamalvandi noted that Iran will continue its cooperation with the IAEA in a bid to resolve the disputed issues, adding that as the IAEA has announced in a statement, Tehran has "submitted information related to the agency's questions by an August 15 deadline."

Army kicking out decorated Green Beret who stood up for Afghan rape victim
[Jihad Watch] The U.S. Army is kicking out a decorated Green Beret after an 11-year Special Forces career, after he got in trouble for shoving an Afghan police commander accused of raping a boy and beating up his mother when she reported the incident.

The case of Sgt. 1st Class Charles Martland now has the attention of Congress, with Rep. Duncan Hunter writing to Defense Secretary Ash Carter challenging the decision.

"I am once again dismayed by the Army's actions in this case," Hunter, R-Calif., wrote in a letter to Carter.

Martland is described by many of his teammates as the finest soldier they have ever served alongside.

But his Army career changed course during his second deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. After learning an Afghan boy was raped and his mother beaten, Martland and his team leader confronted a local police commander they had trained, armed and paid with U.S. taxpayer dollars. When the man laughed off the incident, they physically confronted him.

They were punished by the Army at the time -- but why exactly Martland is now being discharged is a matter of dispute. Army sources cited his accolades, including being named runner-up for 2014 Special Warfare Training Group Instructor of the Year from a pool of 400 senior leaders in Special Forces, in questioning the decision.

As for the incident in 2011, Hunter told Carter: "To intervene was a moral decision, and SFC Martland and his Special Forces team felt they had no choice but to respond."

Casey, a former Green Beret teammate who would only use his first name since he is now a member of a federal counterterrorism team, told Fox News, "If I was a commander, I would have given him an award. They saved that kid's life."

Martland grew up south of Boston, in Milton, Mass. An all-state football player in high school, he set his sights on playing college football after graduating in 2001. Martland went for the Florida State University team, which just finished a season ranked #4 in the nation.

He made the team, impressing legendary head coach Bobby Bowdon and famed defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews. Still, he often remained on the sidelines. When Pat Tillman, a former NFL football player who volunteered for the Army Rangers, was killed in Afghanistan in 2004, he saw Tillman's sacrifice as motivation to apply for another elite program. Martland dropped out of college and graduated in 2006 from Special Forces Qualification Course, one of the U.S. military's toughest training programs. Over the years he became a jumpmaster, combat diver and sniper.

After a deployment to Iraq in 2008, he deployed to Afghanistan in January 2010 as part of a 12-man unit. He and his team found themselves fighting large numbers of Taliban militants in volatile Kunduz Province.

On one mission, one of their vehicles was struck by an IED, setting off a Taliban ambush. Fox News is told Martland rushed to the scene. He jumped in the turret of a damaged Humvee, exposing himself to enemy bullets while returning fire to help his teammates gather sensitive equipment.

"I thought he was gone, then he comes out of nowhere to save us," said an active-duty Green Beret who requested anonymity.

Martland was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor for his actions. According to one evaluation, he also was "praised" by Gen. David Petraeus, then commander of U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan.
