and Yemen.

In a letter he addressed to Apsana Begum, al-Rai appreciated its call for the necessity of stopping the bombing of Gaza and Yemen due to the catastrophic dangers it entails.

The Parliament Speaker added in his letter, "We followed with great interest your question to the British Prime Minister about the bombing of Yemen and the warning of humanitarian organizations that the bombing threatens the lives of the civilian population and limits the access of humanitarian aid."

He stressed that she was successful and right in saying, "Instead of escalating the risks to the civilian population, why does the Prime Minister not support the increasing international calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, put an end to the attacks on Yemen, and call for peace and justice?" ".

Al-Rai considered the British Prime Minister’s response and his insistence on bombing Yemen to be in violation of the voice of reason and international and humanitarian law, despite the Republic of Yemen repeatedly affirming its commitment to protecting navigation in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

He explained that the ban was limited to Israeli ships or those heading to the ports of occupied Paleostine until the aggression against Gaza stopped and food and medical aid was brought to the Paleostinian people.

Al-Rai pointed out that the United States and Britannia are constantly bombing Yemeni cities and terrorizing citizens without any legal justification, but rather because of Yemen’s position in support of the Paleostinian people.

Prosecutor asks to transfer the case of those accused of riots in Makhachkala to Kuban
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The Supreme Court of Russia received a petition from a representative of the Prosecutor General's Office to transfer to the court of the Krasnodar Territory the case of five residents of Dagestan accused of participating in the riots in Makhachkala.

As the Caucasian Knot" wrote, by December 13, 2023, about 150 people had been arrested in the criminal case of mass unrest at the airport, one of them was also accused of attacking a security officer. For most of the accused, the arrest period has been extended until the end of March. Among those arrested, there are those who simply observed what was happening, said a member of the Dagestan PMC.

On October 29, 2023, mass riots occurred at Makhachkala airport due to reports of the arrival of a plane with passengers from Israel. More than 20 people were injured in the riots, including nine police officers. By January 12, the district courts of Dagestan had received administrative cases of more than 900 people accused in connection with the unrest. What happened at Uytash airport and how the investigation is proceeding is described in the Caucasian Knot report “ The Case of the Pogrom at Makhachkala Airport.”

The Supreme Court of Russia has scheduled February 12 to consider the petition of First Deputy Prosecutor General Anatoly Razinkin to change the territorial jurisdiction of the criminal case against several accused in the riots in Makhachkala, Chernovik reports today.

We are talking about residents of Dagestan, the investigation of which has been completed. The First Deputy Prosecutor General asked to send their case not to the Karabudakhkent court, but to the court in the Krasnodar Territory, explaining in the petition that “the accused have extensive connections, including family and friends, in the law enforcement bloc, as well as in the judiciary of the Republic of Dagestan.”

“Despite being held criminally liable, they retained the ability to use tools to influence the course and results of the trial, and can put pressure on the participants in the trial if the criminal case is considered in the courts of the republic,” the publication quotes Razinkin’s appeal.

A representative of the prosecutor's office explained that transferring the case to the judicial system of the Krasnodar Territory will allow the case to be considered "objectively and comprehensively." This, in his opinion, is facilitated by transport accessibility and the ability to interrogate participants in the process via video communication.

In turn, the defense and relatives of many of the accused, whose cases are still being investigated, believe that the transfer of the case from Dagestan to another region may be due to the desire of the prosecution to punish the accused as severely as possible, the publication writes.

According to the proceedings card on the Supreme Court website, the accused are Anvarbek Ataev, Islam Ibragimov, Magomed Omaraskhabov, Rabadan Radzhabov and Salik Ramazanov, the indictment is dated January 22. Proceedings in the case of changing territorial jurisdiction began on January 31, the hearing is scheduled for 10.00 Moscow time on February 12.

The position of the representative of the prosecutor's office was criticized today by the deputy chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) of Dagestan, Shamil Khadulaev.

“If the Dagestanis are tried in another region, they will receive the full punishment, and there is no doubt about it. But the question is, why is such a practice necessary, transferring the trial to another region, inventing stories about “security”? They shout from every voice that Dagestan a territory of peace and tranquility, but when it comes to court, Dagestan becomes “soooooo dangerous,” Khadulaev wrote in his Telegram channel.

Human rights activists demand to check the version of the murder of Seda Suleymanova
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Sources in Chechnya voiced a version of the murder of Seda Suleymanova by relatives, the SOS Crisis Group reported and demanded that the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office conduct an investigation.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, nothing has been known for 150 days about the fate of Seda Suleymanova, who was taken by her relatives to Chechnya, her friend said on February 1 at a picket near the St. Petersburg prosecutor's office building. Security forces detained the picketer and released her the same day.

On August 23, 2023, security forces came to 26-year-old Seda Suleymanova and her fiancé, who fled from Chechnya to St. Petersburg, and detained them, explaining that the girl was suspected of stealing jewelry. Then the young man was released, and the girl was sent to Grozny, where she was interrogated as a witness in a theft case and handed over to her uncle and aunt. The lawyers were not allowed to meet with their client, citing the girl’s refusal of their services.

On October 20, Suleymanova’s fiance Stanislav Kudryavtsev announced that he had converted to Islam and asked to meet with her, but received no response from the girl’s relatives.

Seda Suleymanova could have been killed by her relatives, the SK SOS Crisis Group reports today on its website, citing two independent sources in Chechnya.

“Information about a possible “honor killing” against Suleymanova was received by the Crisis Group in early February. On February 6, human rights activists of the SOS IC filed an application with the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation demanding an urgent verification of these reports,” the publication says. “Nothing was heard about Suleymanova for more than 150 days,” human rights activists emphasized.

The Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office, as of 14.35 Moscow time on February 7, did not report on their websites that the application had been received and verified.

Let us recall that back in October 2022, Seda Suleymanova turned to human rights activists because she was afraid that her family might commit an “honor killing”, since her relatives from Grozny were not satisfied with her lack of religiosity. In January 2023, Seda found a job and decided to stay in St. Petersburg. In February of the same year, her relatives already tried to kidnap her, but she managed to escape. After this, Seda changed her job and address, but remained in St. Petersburg, where she was detained.

On August 29, 2023, Chechen Ombudsman Mansur Soltaev, in a report on a meeting with Seda Suleymanova, stated that the girl was not in danger and was safe. Human rights activists then noted that Soltaev did not publish a video of the conversation, but only a photo in which a mark similar to a hematoma was visible on the girl’s neck.

On September 4, 2023, Mansur Soltaev announced a return visit  to Suleymanova. According to him, the girl met him in a good mood and did not express any complaints. At the same time, in the short video that Soltaev published, Suleymanova simply accompanies him to the gate, and music is superimposed on the video.

Women whose behavior is considered a disgrace by their relatives may become victims of “honor killings” in the Caucasus. These murders are committed by relatives themselves, most often a father or brother, says the Caucasian Knot report “ Honor Killings in the North Caucasus.”

The President of the Center for the Study of Global Issues of Contemporary and Regional Problems "Caucasus. World. Development" Saida Sirazhudinova published a report  on December 29, 2023, according to which in Chechnya "honor killings" are the dominant motive for killings of women. The human rights activist also  reported that in Dagestan and Ingushetia they try to hide data on “honor killings,” and in Chechnya, motivating the murder of a woman by her behavior helps to obtain a more lenient punishment.

Chechen police refused to open a case of beating Zhuravel
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Based on the results of the inspection, the Chechen police refused to open a criminal case regarding the beating of Nikita Zhuravel due to the absence of a crime, the Russian Ombudsman’s Office reported. Today's hearing, at which Zhuravel was supposed to testify in the case of the burning of the Koran, has been postponed at the request of the defense.

As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov,  published a video on September 25, 2023, in which his son Adam Kadyrov beats Volgograd resident Nikita Zhuravel, who was arrested for burning the Koran, in a pre-trial detention center. The head of Chechnya praised his son for this act. After this, Adam Kadyrov received the title of Hero of Chechnya and, among other things, the highest state awards of Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria. Adam Kadyrov received  at least nine  state and public awards.

On November 2, 2023, the court in Grozny began to consider the case of Volgograd resident Nikita Zhuravel, accused in the case of burning the Koran. He is accused of violating the right to freedom of conscience and religion and hooliganism. On October 13, 2023, in court, Zhuravel  apologized to Muslims  for his action, but admitted guilt only in the very fact of burning the Koran, saying that he had no motive for gross violation of public order. You can read more about the Zhuravel case in the Caucasian Knot information “ The beating of Nikita Zhuravel: why did Kadyrov’s men need to publish the video.”

The Chechen police did not find reasons to initiate a criminal case regarding the beating of Nikita Zhuravel, it follows from the response of the Ombudsman’s office to a private individual’s appeal; a screenshot of the response was published today by Telegram channels, in particular Brief.

The letter dated February 5, signed by the acting head of the department for the protection of the rights of victims and other participants in criminal proceedings of the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Vladislav Grigorov, states that police department No. 1 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Grozny conducted an inspection “on a report of unlawful actions committed in regarding N.S. Zhuravel." “A decision was made to refuse to initiate a criminal case “due to the absence of a crime,” the letter states.

It also states that the check was carried out by police on September 16, 2023. “The supervising prosecutor recognized this decision as legal and justified,” the response states.

The trial of Nikita Zhuravel, who is accused of burning the Koran, was adjourned due to the fact that the defendant is not ready to testify, the Chechnya Segodnya news agency reported.

“My client is currently not ready to testify and we ask you to postpone the interrogation of the accused. We need to discuss the legal position with the defendant,” lawyer Yulia Antonova is quoted in the publication.

The next meeting is scheduled for February 12.

"They came to get him in his cell at 9 a.m. this morning and he left for La Belle France," Abdeslam’s lawyer Delphine Paci tells AFP.

"It’s a flagrant violation of the rule of law," she says. "There was clearly collusion between the Belgian state and the French state to violate a court decision."

"This is clearly about a kind of thirst for Dire Revenge that has taken precedence over the rule of law," Paci charges.

In the case of terrorists, 'law' has lost its meaning. Remember the old word 'outlaw', beyond the scope and protection of law.

Nawaz Sharif to be PM candidate if PML-N gains simple majority: Shehbaz
[GEO.TV] Ahead of the nationwide polls slated to be held tomorrow, Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif said Wednesday that Nawaz Sharif

would be the party's premiership candidate if the PML-N gained a simple majority in parliament.
[Insert definition of insanity here]
"If we fail to get a simple majority in parliament, the PML-N will decide on the premier’s candidate after consultations," the former prime minister said while speaking on Geo News’ special election transmission.

He also elaborated on his party’s plan if it managed to secure power after the general elections. "We have to make big decisions. We would need to go for another IMF [International Monetary Fund] programme."

He advocated the country’s privatisation scheme for loss-making national entities. Shehbaz also took credit for saving the country from facing default. The politico added that the nation will decide tomorrow regarding the political party for ruling the country.

Commenting on recent explosions, the PML-N president said that a few hours are left for the poll day and the kabooms were carried out to stop voters from taking part in the forthcoming electoral event.

He blamed the previous Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

PML-N candidates will contest on 212 NA constituencies across the country on February 8 — leaving the field open on 51 NA seats for rivals or allies.

PML-N supremo Nawaz will contest polls in NA-15 (Mansehra

-led October 7 terror onslaught, the State Department said Monday.

"We’re looking at what options exist for supporting civilians in Gaza through partners like the World Food Program, UNICEF and other NGOs," deputy front man Vedant Patel said during a press briefing. UNICEF is the UN agency that provides humanitarian aid to children worldwide.

The supplemental funding package approved by the Democrat-controlled Senate on Sunday includes roughly $1.4 billion in humanitarian funding for Gaza, with a stipulation preventing any of it going to UNRWA. The legislation’s fate is currently unclear, however, with House Republican leaders vowing to oppose the bill.

"There’s text in this pending legislation that would preclude us from [donating to UNRWA]. We are an administration that follows the law," Patel said.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
he clarified the funds would still be used for the same goal. "This is tangible money that we believe will save lives and have a direct impact on Paleostinian civilians, and we will redirect funding for UNRWA to other partners to provide assistance in Gaza," Patel said.

The State Department deputy front man reiterated the administration still believes UNRWA’s work is "critical" and is accordingly pushing the UN to expeditiously carry out its probe into UNRWA, so that reforms can be implemented to allow for funding to be restored.

"We believe that we can continue to do important work through other NGOs and other partners and, simultaneously, we’ll continue have conversations with donor countries about supporting UNRWA," Patel added.

Last week, State Department front man Matthew Miller said that roughly $300,000 earmarked for UNRWA has been withheld following the US decision to suspend funding amid the allegations against the UN relief agency for Paleostinian refugees.

Roughly $121 million in US funding was already transferred to UNRWA between October 1 and last Friday’s decision to suspend funding pending an investigation.

Typically, the US provides UNRWA with between $300 and $400 million annually, making it the world’s largest donor to the agency. Former president Donald Trump

Strip could amount to "war crimes."
No word on whether Hamas has committed war crimes and continues to do so by hiding among civilians?
"We can make (it) clear... under international humanitarian law, indiscriminate bombing of densely populated areas may amount to war crimes," OCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke told journalists in Geneva.

The remarks come as OCHA reported an "increase in strikes" in Rafah on Sunday and Monday, following Israel’s recent announcements of plans for a ground invasion of the overcrowded governorate.

Thousands of Gazooks continue to "flood" into Rafah, including many who have fled intense fighting in Khan Younus as the Israeli military expands ground operations towards the south of the enclave.

According to OCHA, due to the continued exodus of Gazooks to the south of the Strip, Rafah’s population has increased by "fivefold" to over 1.1 million people since the conflict between Israel and Hamas

US base attacked in Jordan did not have the air defense system necessary to protect it
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The American military base in Jordan did not have an air defense system that could protect it from an attack by a Shahed-type drone that hit the specified facility in late January. The Washington Post reported this on February 6,citing its sources.

One of the journalists’ interlocutors said that we are talking about Shahed-101 drones, which are used by armed forces in Iraq. The article also states that the US military most likely detected a drone that was approaching the base, but was unable to prevent the strike due to its low flight path and the lack of an appropriate air defense system.

The publication claims that instead of an air defense system, the facility contained only electronic warfare (EW) equipment.

As Regnum reported, on January 29, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the US military was unable to repel a drone attack on its base in the Middle East because it mistook the drone for its own.

It is clarified that the strike coincided with the return of an American unmanned aerial vehicle. However, the US military was unable to determine who exactly owned the approaching drone.

The attack on a US military base in Jordan occurred on the night of January 28. At least three American service members were killed in the attack. White House President Joe Biden blamed the incident on pro-Iranian militant groups in Syria and Iraq.

On February 2, the United States launched a series of retaliatory strikes against targets in these countries. They hit at least 85 targets.

war, forcing tens of thousands of people out of their homes on both sides of the border.

French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne "warned us that the Israelis might launch a war, which they say would be to return" displaced citizens to their homes, Abdallah Bou Habib told news hounds after meeting his French counterpart.

"We told the French that we do not want a war" with Israel, Bou Habib said, adding that Beirut sought "a border deal with them" facilitated by the United Nations

In Jerusalem on Monday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz told Sejourne that "time is running out" to reach a diplomatic solution in south Lebanon.

Sejourne is the latest in a succession of Western ministers to visit Beirut amid concerns the Gaza war could spark a wider conflict involving Iranian allies around the Middle East.

A source close to the French foreign minister told AFP that he brought to the table "diplomatic initiatives to avoid escalation" between the two enemy states, without providing further details.

Sejourne sought to "encourage each stakeholder to clearly signal its commitment to security and peace in southern Lebanon and northern Israel," the source said.

"These conditions are certainly unrealistic and rejected by the Lebanese, seeing as there will be no bargains nor settlements at the expense of Lebanon and its illusory sovereignty," Geagea said in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Responding to a question, Geagea stressed that "Hezbollah will never withdraw from the South."

"It is deceiving the Americans and making them believe that," he added.

He also said that anyone thinking of a bargain involving the presidency and the border situation would be "dreaming."

"Our opposition will not allow any Hezbollah president," Geagea emphasized.

"Unfortunately we have not managed to disarm them, but we have prevented them from reaching the presidency," he added.

cease-fire negotiations, according to officials Wednesday. This includes a pullback by Hezbollah from the frontier and the deployment of thousands of additional Lebanese Army troops.

The proposal put forward by European diplomats would be based on the "partial implementation" of the U.N. Security Council resolution that ended a 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, two Lebanese political officials and a Lebanese diplomat based in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose details of the talks.

Israel has publicly insisted on a full implementation of the resolution meaning that Hezbollah has to move its fighters north of the Litani River, which is more than 20 kilometers north of the border.

Iran-backed Hezbollah, a Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
ally, has refused to be part of the discussions while the Israel-Hamas war is ongoing, but once a cease-fire is in place, the group said it was open to moving its forces away from the border by a few miles in exchange for concessions by Israel over 13 disputed border areas, one of the officials familiar with the talks said Wednesday.

LOL, pull the other one
Britannia and La Belle France's top diplomats, among others, have recently visited Beirut amid concerns the Israel-Hamas war could expand to Lebanon where exchanges of fire have taken place on an almost daily basis between Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters for nearly four months.

The violence along the Lebanon-Israel border has displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides. Israel has issued increasingly stern warnings that Hezbollah should pull back from the border or it will launch a war on Lebanon.

Last Thursday, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron
...Empty suit Brit pol, former PM, has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel...
arrived in Lebanon with a plan he said would include Britannia training Lebanese army forces to carry out more security work in the border region.

La Belle France's Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne was also in Beirut on Tuesday, with a proposal to ease the tension. He warned that the border situation is "very concerning" and that Israel is serious in its threats against Lebanon, one of the Lebanese officials said.

Sejourne 's suggestion called for a bigger role for the Lebanese Army in the border area and for negotiations regarding 13 disputed points along the border since Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon in 2000, according to the Lebanese diplomat based in Europe.

The diplomat said there is "initial understanding" regarding seven of the 13 areas.

Apart from those, one of the officials familiar with the regional talks said Hezbollah would demand that Israel withdraw from the Lebanese part of the town of Ghajar, which is split in half by the border.

He said the proposal on the table calls for Hezbollah to pull back 7 km from the border -- the range of the anti-tank missiles the group has been using most frequently during the festivities — and for the deployment of 12,000 Lebanese Army troops in the area.

He added that many members of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force live in the border area but the group had no "fixed bases" there.
