's Supreme Court on Sunday upheld the sentencing of a Saudi blogger, Raif Badawi, who was convicted of insulting Islam, according to a report on the BBC website.
The blogger's wife told AFP that her husband's sentencing had been upheld by the kingdom's apex court.
In July 2013, a court initially sentenced Badawi, who is in jail since 2012, to more than seven years in jail and 600 lashes, but an appeals court overturned the ruling, sending the case back for retrial following which he received a harsher sentence of 1,000 lashes along with a 10-year jail term.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of one million riyals ($267,000, 192,00 euros).
The blogger's case attracted worldwide condemnation when he was publicly flogged on January 9 this year. Badawi co-founded the now-banned Saudi Liberal Network along with women's rights campaigner Suad al-Shammari, who was also accused of insulting Islam and enjugged Please don't kill me! last October.
The charges against Badawi were brought after his group criticised holy mans and the kingdom's notorious inquisitors religious police, who have been accused of a heavy-handed enforcement of sharia Islamic law.
His flogging was postponed for the second straight week in January after a team of around eight doctors carried out medical tests on Raif Badawi and recommended against flogging.
The blogger's case was referred to Saudi Arabia's apex court after international condemnation followed the first installment of 50 lashes in January.

[Iran Press TV] British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond says his country is ready to consider hosting US cruise missiles in an alleged bid to counter "worrying signs" from Russia's military plans.
"We would look at the case. We work extremely closely with the Americans. That would be a decision that we would make together if that proposition was on the table. We would look at all the pros and the cons and come to a conclusion," said Hammond during an interview with state-funded BBC on Sunday.
"I think it is right to be concerned about the way the Russians are developing what they call asymmetric warfare doctrine ... There have been some worrying signs of stepping up levels of activity both by Russian forces and by Russian-controlled separatist forces," the British official stated in reference to the pro-Russians in eastern Ukraine.

If the 'pool' is just a fraction of a square mile and has low recoverability, it might not even be economic to develop. If it's multiple square miles and high recoverability it could be a good, solid discovery.
There was a small oil field in Sherwood Forest that was developed at great cost and speed (and secrecy) during WWII, and provided critical supplies immune to U-boats. It's quite a story - there should be a movie.
[Iran Press TV] Greece's finance minister has described as "aggressive" a list of proposals on a default-saving loan deal to the debt-ridden country by its international creditors.
Last week, the European Commission offered Greece a five-page list of proposals, including sales tax hikes, privatizations and cuts in civil servants' salaries and pensions, aimed at ending Athens' debt crisis.
Greece's Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis on Sunday slammed the proposals by the European body, saying, "It was an aggressive move designed to terrorize the Greek government.... This Greek government cannot be terrorized."
On Friday, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras rejected the proposal, calling on the nation's international creditors to withdraw their "absurd" demands for additional austerity cuts in return for unlocking the final bailout funds.
Greece has been engaged in months of negotiations with its creditors, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... (EU), and the European Central Bank (ECB), with the aim of unlocking the last €7.2 billion (USD 7.8 billion) tranche of its bailout deal. As there is no deal on the horizon and there are billions of dollars in loan repayments, a potential Greek debt default is feared which, in turn, could lead the country toward crashing out of the 19-nation eurozone.

[RUDAW.NET] A foreign fighter with the Kurdish Peshmerga forces has died in a road accident while visiting his family in Holland, a Peshmerga commander told Rudaw on Sunday.
The soldier, known as Ron Hollandi, reportedly died in a car accident in Amsterdam. said Sardar Doski, his commander on the Zumar front.
"To spend some time with his family, Ron Hollandi returned to the Netherlands, and he was expected to return to Kurdistan next week," Doski added.
Hollandi joined the Peshmerga last October, participating in several battles against the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) on the Zumar front in djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... .
"Even though he was a foreign fighter he played a major role in the battles against ISIS and we are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us," Doski said.
He added that, out of respect for Hollandi's loyalty to the Peshmerga and Kurdistan, he would be honored in a special procession.
Many imported muscle have joined the Peshmerga in Iraq's Kurdistan Region as well as the Peoples' Protection Units (YPG) in Syrian Kurdistan, or Rojava.

Many in the military ranks are getting accustomed to the administration's advancement of LGBT 'rights' every year, says Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins.
"After [Wednesday's] announcement, the Air Force is taking its radicalism to new heights -- announcing that it was easing the discharge policy on transgenders in advance of the pride event [this week]," Perkins reported. "Apparently, we're now relaxing U.S. security standards in conjunction with P.C. holidays."
As the first service chief to openly lobby for the gender-confused, Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James insists that the new policy is overdo and that the Air Force should be open to just about everyone who wants to serve -- regardless of their impact on the effectiveness of fellow soldiers.
"Times change," James stated in December. "From my point of view, anyone who is capable of accomplishing the job should be able to serve."
